Briana’s POV
“OH BRIANA!” I heard a female sing out.
I looked in the direction of the voice, “s**t!” I tried walking a little faster to get away from her.
“Hey!” she exclaimed grabbing my arm. “I know you heard me. The least you could do is say hi.” She stood there like she was the most important person on the planet.
“Hi and bye.” I told her trying to get away from her, but she still had hold of my arm.
“Not so fast.” She said tightening her grip. “We need to talk.”
“We have nothing to talk about. So again bye.”
“Well, I’m not done talking to you.” She said grabbing my cart to keep me from moving.
“Fine.” I let out a pissed breath. “What do you want?”
“I want you to not be a b***h to me, but I also want to know where Angelica is.”
Man, I hated this b***h and her family. They are rich and are used to getting their way, so her and her brother don’t really like or understand the meaning of ‘NO.’ “She used to live here but she doesn’t anymore.”
“That’s a lie.”
“It’s not.” I stood firm on the lie trying to protect my friend.
“Briana I’m not an i***t. I know you’re her friend and talk to her daily so even if she isn’t in this town you know where she is so just tell me where she is.”
“Sierra. I don’t like you so even if I knew where she was...which I don’t. Why would I tell you?”
“f**k you too then.” She said in a raised and pissed off voice. “I have unfinished business with her that’s why I want to know where she is.”
“So, your brother wants to know not you?”
“Does that matter?”
“To me yes.”
“Fine yes he wants to speak with her, but I also want to speak with her too.”
“Briana you okay?” I heard the one person I didn’t want in this conversation behind me.
“I’m fine thanks.”
“And who is this handsome guy?” Sierra asked sweetly.
She was making flirty eyes at him, and I was looking between them both and let out a chuckle when I noticed he was measuring her up and not impressed. She glared at me then went back to making goo-goo eyes at him.
“You sure you’re okay?” he turned to ask me again.
“Yeah I’m fine thanks.”
“Let’s go to the register. I’ll pay for your stuff with mine.” He said taking the cart from and removed Sierra’s hand from my arm. I followed after him but stopped and looked at Sierra “he’s not interested and you’re not his type. Bye now.” I then ran after him since he was already at the register.
“Who was she to you?”
“A bitch.”
“Who is she to my sister?”
“Same.”
“School?”
“Yep.”
He paid for my things and walked me to my car and helped me get everything loaded up. “You’re a good friend to my sister.” He told me closing my trunk. He leaned against my car crossing his arms “Do I need to worry about her? Is she going to be a problem?” I looked at him giving him a tight smile not wanting to answer him since I would be honest and he would lose it. He looked behind me to, and I turned to see she was watching us from her car. “Just let me know if it becomes a problem.”
“I can do that.”
“Good. Get in the car. I will make sure she can’t follow you.”
“Thank you.” I said letting out a breath since I was worried about her doing that.
“Take care.” He said pushing off my car and walking over to her. I quickly got in the car and sent a message to Angie then took off a little faster wanting to get out of there. I waited till I was 20mins down the road before I slowed down and stopped looking in my rearview mirror every 5 seconds. I then concluded that I would need to tell one of the guys about this since Sierra isn’t leaving and is looking for Angie on her brother’s behalf. So, this could become a problem really fast.
-Back at the house-
I unloaded my car and Angie helped with getting the groceries inside while I took the suite cases. We headed inside and Diego came over taking the groceries from Angie “I got the guest room put together for you even though I doubt you will use it much.”
“Thank you for that.” Angie and I headed upstairs.
She showed me to the guest room which was right next to hers and we went inside and I put my things away before changing into Pj’s and Angie did the same. We went downstairs and grabbed some food to eat and carried it all upstairs to her room just hanging out and catching up on all that happened both with her relationship and school life.
“I think we should both swear off men for a while.” I admitted.
She was laying upside down on the bed where I was on the floor “I think that’s a good idea.”
“Great so no men.”
“Agree.”
“For how long though?” I needed to know that information since I do go out for some fun from time to time.
“You a month. Me. Life.” She said sitting up and sitting on the floor next to me.
“How about you just run any guy by me first.”
“Fair enough but I still don’t want to be in another relationship any time soon.”
“Understandable.”
DING-DONG
“Who is ringing a door bell at this hour?” I asked no one in particular it was 10:30pm.
“Let’s go see.”
“Not sure that is a good idea.” I knew about her brother and what he did and also knew that they had a security company too, so I wasn’t too keen on seeing who was here.
“Well, I’m curious.” Angie got up and headed out of the room.
“Girl. I don’t think this is smart.” I ran after her down the hall and half way down the stairs. I caught up with her on the stairs to see her staring toward the door. I looked that way to see why she was staring. Diego was at the door cracked open talking to someone with a gun pointed toward the person on the opposite side of the door. “Why does he have a gun?” She asked me in a whisper.
“It’s late at night so being safe.” I said with a shrug. I knew the real reason for the gun.
He closed the door and turned around to see both of us on the stairs. “What?” he asked putting his gun away.
“You had a gun out.” Angie said.
“Yeah so.” He shrugged it off.
“So? So, it’s a gun.”
“Its 10:30 at night. I had it out for safety reasons.” He said trying to calm her down.
“Ugh. I have seen too many guns since coming home.” She said marching up the stairs.
I walked down the rest of the stairs and looked him dead in the eye “You guys need to tell her the truth.”
“And what truth is that?”
“That you 3 help her brother run the dark and shady side of town. Your security job is the only legal thing you 4 do.” He looked at me shocked. “I run a restaurant and everyone eats there. It’s not that hard to figure out what you all do. I listen to the customers. I won’t tell her but you 4 NEED to.” I told him then headed up the stairs.
I got up 3 steps when he said softly, “didn’t think you knew.”
“I pay attention to details and do more listening than talking which helps.” I looked up the stairs then back at him, “I need to talk to you about something too but need to wait for her to go to sleep.”
“I’ll be up. Just find me down here in the living room or knock on my bedroom door if I’m not down here.”
“Okay.” I nodded at him with a tight smile then climbed up the stairs fast. I walked in her bedroom, and she was currently in the bathroom.
She walked out “Do you like Diego?”
“WHAT?”
“It’s just a question.”
“No. I don’t have any feelings for any of them. They’re more like friends or brothers to me.”
“Oh okay.” She said not convinced. “Movie?”
