Angelica’s POV
I still couldn’t believe I opened my door without covering up my arms and legs. I never do that I always think before acting but I didn’t last night due to being so tired. I was now getting dressed trying to forget about my stupidity last night. I put on a loose long sleeve shirt and some leggings then left my room. I walked downstairs and could hear them talking in the kitchen. I walked around the corner and saw them all sitting at the kitchen table.
“Good morning.” I said softly avoiding eye contact.
“Morning Sis.”
“Morning Princess.”
“Morning I cooked breakfast. It’s on the island.” Bryson said while reading the newspaper.
“Morning Angie.”
I walked to the island and made a plate of food to eat. I grabbed a cup of orange juice then sat at the empty chair between Diego and Michael.
“You sleep well?” my brother asked me.
“Yeah I slept fine.”
“What are your plans for today?”
“None of your business but I will just be staying at the house today.” I looked up from my food and set down my fork and looked at my brother “I need a house key and gate remote.”
“Why?”
“So, I can come and go from here. Before you answer if you say you won’t get me a key and remote then I will go live with Bri. I won’t have you controlling my life.” I didn’t like being a brat with my brother, but he needed to accept that I was an adult now and not a child.
He growled his displeasure “Fine but I want you to at least text me when you leave the house.”
“Fine.” I went back to eating not liking how my brother is still trying to control my life.
“I have some video calls I need to do at work.” He said getting up and taking his items to the sink then left the room. A few moments later he exited out the back door.
I continued to eat my food ignoring the fact that I could feel 3 sets of eyes on me. I finished eating and took care of my dishes. I grabbed a glass of water and went back up to my room. When I opened the door to my bedroom I could hear my phone buzzing. I walked over and looked at who was calling me and froze in fear. I couldn’t believe who was calling me. I shook my head trying not to cry. I took a deep breath and declined the call with shaking hands. I turned my phone on silent and powered up my laptop so I could start doing my class work.
After finishing all my classwork for the day, I took a break since it was now 2pm. I was a little hungry, so I went downstairs to get something to eat. When I got downstairs to the kitchen I looked out the back windows and saw Diego and Michael talking to a group of guys. I guessed they were friends since it seemed to be a friendly conversation, but I did notice that the guys had guns strapped to their legs which was odd. I walked over and opened the back door. One of the guys tapped Diego’s arm and nodded toward me. They all looked at me making me feel really exposed. I hugged myself as they all stared at me.
Michael came over “Do you need something?”
“Who are they and why do they have guns?”
“They work with our security company. Do you need something?”
“I got the princess.” Diego came over and grabbed my shoulders directing me back inside.
“Don’t man handle me! What’s going on?” I asked as he pushed me back inside and closed the door. He let go of my shoulders and I turned around to face him “What are those guys doing here with guns?”
“Princess don’t ask questions unless you are ready for the answer.”
I crossed my arms over my chest “Why do they have weapons?”
“Why do you have bruises in the shape of hand prints?” He countered with an arched eyebrow “I’ll answer your question when you answer mine.” I was pissed and just rolled my eyes and walked back into the kitchen and made my self a bowl of fruit to eat. “Don’t want to answer that do you?”
“How’s the school work going?” Michael asked walking back in the room.
“I finished all my school work due today and started an outline for an essay due in a few days. I’m taking a break. Then will see if there are any documents they need me to translate.”
“Need any help?”
“Do you know any other language?” I asked with an arched brow.
“No but I was trying to be nice.”
“I got it.” I told him with a tight smile. Diego leaned against the counter top while Michael crossed his arms leaning against the island. I looked up from my bowl fork halfway to my mouth “What?”
“Diego mentioned you have bruises in the shape of hand prints.”
“Diego talks too much.” I countered focusing on eating my food. I set my bowl down and grabbed a can of Coca-Cola.
“I may talk a lot Princess, but you seem to not talk enough.”
“Why do you keep calling me that?”
“Seems to fit.”
“He could call you something worse.” Michael added with a smirk.
“I know.” I finished my bowl and took it to the sink to clean it.
“Seriously though what happened?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I finished cleaning the bowl then grabbed my soda and headed back upstairs. I went back in my room and my phone started buzzing. I saw it was Bri.
“Hey girl.” I answered.
‘Girl were you still dating that one guy before you left?’
“Why do you ask?”
‘His b***h of a sister stopped by asking for you. I told her to go f**k off but not sure how long that will last.’
“I broke up with him 5 months ago, but he doesn’t like being told no and said we will only break up when he says we are through.”
‘f**k girl! What did he do?’
“You can guess.”
‘b***h! f**k that answer. I’m closing up and heading over there. You have some explaining to do.’
“Wait.....” I said right as she hung up. “s**t!” I don’t even want to talk about it and thanks to his sister I will have to talk about it. “Ugh!”
