"Did you hear that? She doesn't know you! Get out of here, or I'll call the police for this young lady!" The landlady shouted again, this time pulling out her phone.
"Go ahead and call them, feel free to report it. The woman inside is my wife. Does the police intervene when a husband is looking for his wife?" The man’s cold voice finally responded.
"Your wife? How can you prove she’s your wife?" The landlady asked, a suspicious look on her face.
Inside the room, Isabelle shouted, "Landlady, please call the police! Don’t listen to his nonsense. This is a criminal's trick! I'm not married at all!"
"Did you hear that? She’s not married!" The landlady shouted back at the man.
"You're really not married?" The man’s icy voice came through the door, his tone filled with extreme anger.
This woman had just gotten her marriage certificate yesterday, and now she’s denying it?
The man outside was none other than Antoine, who had been trying to reach her by phone but couldn’t get through, so he came in person.
Isabelle froze for a moment, hearing Antoine's words. Hadn't she really gotten married yesterday? Hadn’t she actually received the certificate?
Could this man be the Antoine she married, the grandson of the ice-cold Bernard?
Before she could answer, the landlady asked, "How can you prove this woman is your wife? If you can prove it, I’ll let you in."
Peering through the peephole, Isabelle saw Antoine pull out a red booklet and show it to the landlady. "Isn’t this the woman from the certificate?" he asked.
The landlady took the booklet, glanced at it briefly, then handed it back, smiling, "Sorry, go ahead, please continue."
The landlady remembered Isabelle clearly from last night, when she had braved the rain to arrive. And now, seeing the woman’s face in the marriage certificate—it was Isabelle!
It must be a little domestic dispute, and the woman had stormed out. The man had come looking for her.
Isabelle now understood—this was Antoine looking for her. This man, as cold as ice, could be so clueless—he should’ve explained first, but instead, he just kicked down the door!
"You can come in now. I didn’t recognize you at first. Couldn’t you have said your name earlier?" Isabelle muttered, opening the door to let Antoine in.
But to her surprise, Antoine's cold eyes suddenly turned to her collar, emitting an unusual gleam.
Isabelle froze in horror, suddenly realizing that she was still in disarray, not even wearing her underwear properly. She quickly slammed the door shut, exclaiming, "Sorry, just wait a moment!"
She had been exposed, completely seen through—her face flushed with embarrassment!
"This woman is just a drama queen. She clearly recognized me from the start and has been pretending all along. She deliberately disheveled herself so I’d see what I shouldn’t have. This is temptation!"
"Indeed, this woman is no simple character!" Antoine thought, remembering the perfect, snow-white sight he had glimpsed. He had never seen anything like it before—her pride as a woman. His heart pounded so hard he thought it might leap out of his chest. His face flushed, and even his earlobes turned red!
This was the first time he had ever seen such a thing in his 28 years as a man. It was perfect and seductive, and he felt an urge to flee.
At the same time, he was sure Isabelle was doing this intentionally—showing off to tempt him.
However, he didn’t continue knocking but stood quietly outside, maintaining his pride and composure.
In her flustered state, Isabelle hurriedly put on her damp underwear and jacket, covering herself as best as she could, before opening the door again.
Antoine looked at Isabelle, now fully dressed, and instinctively glanced again at her collar. The images from earlier flashed in his mind, and his face flushed once more. He felt a strong urge to escape.
"Ah?" Isabelle stared at Antoine, surprised. This cold man had such an adorable side? No wonder he was nearly 30 and still single—his cold exterior hid the fact that inside, he was a shy, big-hearted boy!
Although Isabelle had never been in a relationship, she could clearly see Antoine’s behavior. Her heart softened, and she suddenly found him incredibly charming. With a smile, she said, "Haven’t you had enough? Do you want to look more?"
She playfully leaned closer to Antoine.
"Shut up. Don’t think that by tempting me like this, I’ll be confused!" Antoine retreated two steps, his back hitting the door, coldly saying, a chill radiating from him.
"Haha, of course, I want to tempt you. You’re my man. Who else should I tempt?" Isabelle teased, enjoying the moment.
"Woman, shut up and come with me now!" Antoine didn’t respond further, his tone commanding.
"Where am I supposed to go with you?" Isabelle asked, confused. Although she had gotten her marriage certificate yesterday, she had been too busy to think about the next steps.
"Now that we have a marriage certificate, of course, you need to move in with me. Do you think this little inn is a place to live?" Antoine glanced around and shook his head.
"Move in with you? Don’t you live with your grandfather?" Isabelle asked urgently. What she needed most right now was a place to live, and if Antoine had his own place, it would be perfect!
A handsome and charming man with a house—he could be the ideal partner!
"Live with my grandfather? Dream on. Pack your things, come with me. I’ve got a property in Yuhua Mansion!" Antoine showed her the keys.
"Yuhua Mansion? Isn’t that a high-end neighborhood? You actually have a place there? That’s amazing. But do you have a mortgage? Should I help pay it off with you?"
Yuhua Mansion was one of the more well-known neighborhoods in F City. Although it wasn’t the absolute best, it was still high-end, with prices starting at 30,000 yuan per square meter!
"I paid in full, no mortgage. The house is in my name, and I won’t add your name to it. You won’t need to pay any mortgage!" Antoine said coldly.
He absolutely couldn’t let this woman take advantage and add her name to the property, in case she got desperate and tried to claim half of it!
"Paid in full? That’s great! I didn’t know you’re doing so well as a company executive. Let’s move there now!" Isabelle was so excited she didn’t even realize Antoine had thought about everything.
No mortgage meant no pressure for them! For young couples today, not having to pay a mortgage was like hitting the jackpot!
"Such a show-off. I can’t wait to see how long you’ll keep this up!"
Isabelle’s excitement didn’t escape Antoine’s notice. She was doing it on purpose again.
He didn’t speak, merely standing quietly by as Isabelle hurriedly packed her things.
