The rain beat hard against the tall windows of Vivienne’s penthouse, grey skies cloaking the city in somber tones. Inside, however, the atmosphere simmered with determination.
Vivienne stood before the mirror in her bedroom, fastening a sapphire choker around her neck. Beneath the elegant sheath dress, her skin still bore the faintest bruises from Liam’s impassioned claiming two nights before. Their bodies had barely parted since the emergency shareholder meeting. But today, the battlefield was broader.
Liam emerged from the en suite, freshly shaven, his tie draped loose around his neck. His eyes met hers in the mirror. “They won’t stop until they’ve destroyed us.”
She inhaled slowly, forcing composure. “Then we give them nothing to exploit.”
He stepped behind her, brushing aside her hair to press a kiss to her nape. “You have me. All of me.”
A soft breath escaped her lips. “And you have me.”
But no more stolen moments could delay the day’s war. They descended to the car, their hands entwined until they neared the building.... then separated, masks in place.
Emma’s Game
Meanwhile, in Marcus’s penthouse, Emma paced, a tumbler of whiskey clutched in her hand. Screens covered one wall, security feeds from nearby streets, public spaces, and the entrance to Moreau Industries.
“She’s still untouchable,” Emma hissed.
Marcus, lounging in a velvet armchair, studied her with clinical amusement. “Not entirely. Our little Daniel is proving... useful.”
Emma scowled. “I should be in that building, not begging scraps from your lackey.”
Marcus arched a brow. “You burned that bridge. Now play your role.”
Grinding her teeth, Emma flicked through messages. Daniel had just sent a fresh report.... a discreet photograph of Liam exiting Vivienne’s private elevator.
They’re not being careful anymore. You want video?
Emma typed fast.
YES. Full surveillance. And get me anything personal.... emails, calls. I want him bleeding.
She slammed the whiskey back. Liam had rejected her.... and worse, chosen Vivienne. The slight festered like rot. If she couldn’t have him, she would ruin him.
And Vivienne? Emma would see her empire burn.
In the Boardroom
At Moreau Industries, Vivienne presided over an intense board strategy session. The air bristled with tension, but her voice remained cool, precise.
“We will proceed with the Barcelona expansion ahead of schedule,” she instructed. “Any attempt by Marcus to delay contracts must be countered immediately.”
Natalie nodded. “Legal is ready.”
Armand added, “And your... personal affairs?”
Vivienne met his gaze evenly. “Handled.”
Yet even as she spoke, her phone buzzed.... a cryptic message from an unknown number:
You’re being watched. They’re coming for him next.
Her heart jolted. Was this a bluff..... or a warning?
She quickly typed:
Who is this?
No reply came.
The Meeting
Later that evening, at Liam’s small apartment, the lovers met in secret. The rain still poured, masking their hurried footsteps.
Inside, Liam pulled Vivienne into his arms the moment the door closed. “You shouldn’t be here.”
“Neither should you be alone.”
Their mouths collided, weeks of tension and fear boiling over. Clothes peeled away in frantic desperation. Liam lifted her onto the small kitchen counter, his hands roaming greedily over her bare skin.
“Tell me you’re mine,” he growled against her throat.
Her nails raked down his back. “I’m yours, Liam. Only yours.”
He thrust into her with a force that shattered the lingering dread. Each movement claimed her anew, until they were both gasping, clinging, utterly undone.
Afterward, tangled in the small bed, Vivienne whispered, “We have to be more careful.”
Liam brushed hair from her cheek. “Or we fight openly. No more shame.”
But Vivienne’s gaze darkened. “If they come for you, they’ll use any weapon.”
“Then let them.” He kissed her fiercely. “I’m not afraid.”
Neither was she. But her gut twisted.... this was a new game, and the stakes were climbing.
Emma’s Descent
Across the city, Emma met Daniel in a shadowed parking garage.
“I need those files,” she snapped.
Daniel shifted nervously. “What if I get caught.....”
“You won’t.” Emma pressed a thick envelope into his hand. “Get me Vivienne’s personal schedule. And Liam’s call logs.”
Daniel swallowed hard. “You’re not even in the company anymore.”
Emma’s eyes gleamed. “Exactly. I’ve got nothing to lose.”
As Daniel fled, Emma leaned against her car, heart racing. The deeper she dug, the more dangerous it became, but obsession left no room for fear.
Soon, she promised herself, the perfect strike would come.
Vivienne’s Resolve
Back in her penthouse, Vivienne paced restlessly. The warning message still gnawed at her. Marcus was escalating and Emma remained a phantom threat.
Her phone buzzed again.
You’ll lose him unless you act first. Trust no one.
Was it a bluff? Or a trap?
Vivienne made her decision.
She summoned Natalie.
“I want full digital sweeps on all board members and Marcus. No one moves against us unseen.”
Natalie nodded. “Understood.”
And privately, Vivienne began drafting a new plan. If Marcus wanted war, she would bring it to his doorstep.
But first, she had to protect Liam.
