Chapter 5: Lines Drawn

The boardroom of Moreau Industries was packed. Tension rippled through the air like an electric current. The entire executive team sat in silence as the chairman, Alain Fournier, clicked through a series of anonymous reports. Vivienne sat at the head of the table, her posture regal, her gaze unflinching. But inside, her heart pounded. She knew what was coming. “It seems we’ve received troubling allegations,” Fournier said gravely. “Involving a senior staff member and a junior employee.” Marcus leaned back, feigning innocence. “Such matters threaten the company’s integrity.” Vivienne met his gaze head-on. “Allegations without proof are gossip.” Fournier sighed. “We must investigate.” Murmurs filled the room. Some board members exchanged glances. Others looked pointedly at Vivienne. She rose slowly. “If anyone here wishes to challenge my leadership, do so openly.” Her voice rang clear. “I will not be judged on whispers.” But even as she spoke, she knew the battle had begun. And Marcus would not stop. Later, in her office, Liam found her staring out the window, trembling with contained rage. “They know,” she whispered. “Then let them.” He crossed to her, cupping her face. “I’m not ashamed.” Tears stung her eyes. “I can’t lose this company.” “And I can’t lose you.” He kissed her, soft and slow. But the tenderness soon turned frantic. Buttons scattered across the floor. His hands mapped her body, desperate to remind her she wasn’t alone. “Liam,” she gasped as he lifted her onto the desk. “I need you.” “Always.” He entered her with a groan, filling her completely. Her cries echoed in the room, matching the frantic rhythm of his thrusts. They shattered together, bodies entwined. Afterward, Liam held her close. “We fight this. Together.” Vivienne nodded, resolve hardening. “Together.” Elsewhere, Marcus watched a new clip from the hidden camera. A sinister smile curled his lips. “Soon, my dear Vivienne,” he whispered. “You’ll come crawling.” The next morning, Emma cornered Liam by the elevator. “Rough week?” she purred, pressing close. “Back off, Emma.” His voice was ice. But Emma smirked. “Everyone knows you’re f*****g the boss. How long do you think you’ll last when she’s dethroned?” Liam clenched his fists but forced himself to walk away. He wouldn’t give her the satisfaction. Vivienne’s parents arrived uninvited again. “End this affair,” her father demanded. “Or we pull our shares.” “Do it,” Vivienne snapped. “I will not be controlled.” Her mother sighed. “Then prepare to lose everything.” Alone after they left, Vivienne crumpled to the floor. But a knock soon sounded. Liam entered and gathered her in his arms. “We’ll find a way.” She clung to him, whispering, “I love you.” “I love you, too.” That night, they escaped the city. Liam took her to a secluded lake house, a place untouched by corporate wars. Under the stars, they swam naked, bodies slick with moonlight. “You’re everything to me,” Liam whispered, lifting her in the water. “Then show me,” she breathed. He carried her ashore, laying her on a blanket. Their lovemaking was slow, reverent, a claiming of souls. When dawn broke, they lay tangled in each other’s arms. Vivienne kissed his chest. “I’m ready to fight.” Liam smiled.
