Chapter 8: Father Makes a Wish

The next morning, Rai gets up prepares a good tea and breakfast as her parents stayed back last night and as she brings everything to the table to her smiling father, she hears the roaring voice of her mother-in-law “that’s amazing feed everything to your parents and then we can go hungry for months”.

Though her parents were a little shook by hearing this, Rai was calm and composed as she was used to hearing all these things by last year. Her parents denied to eat anything after hearing what they heard and came straight to the point why they stayed the night.

“We want you to get married again”, Tamal Mukherjee said and now the turn to get a shock was for Rai and Swapna Dutta’s (Rai’s mother-in-law).]

“What are you out of your mind? Who is going to take care of me at this age?” Swapna Dutta asked in a tone that suggested the day she had dreaded arrived.

“You can stay with us, you already get money from the government in your account, I don’t think there should be any other problem” Rita Mukherjee said looking at the suit her only child was wearing, it was more than two years old.

“So according to you, money can solve everything?” Swapna retorted; she was not going to let her daughter-in-law marry a man while she was left alone in the house.

“Not everything but most of the things and I think that’s the reason, you are keeping the money to yourself, see I will try my best to convince my daughter to get married and she will get married, she is young and should not be spending all her life alone. What is she your servant?” Tamal Mukherjee stated as he went out of patience to deal with Swapna anymore and turned his eyes to his daughter.
