“The mark of the Rogue King,” Zayden says darkly as we head through the castle entrance. “Maddox is trying again.”
I shake my head while wiping blood from my jaw with the back of my hand. “No. This wasn’t a takeover attempt.”
Zayden glances toward me as we head toward the staircase leading upstairs. “Then what was it?”
“A warning,” I answer coldly. “He’s reminding us he’s still out there.”
Nyx growls low inside my head. “He’s taunting you.”
