27 Gabrielle If a month ago, somebody had asked me what I longed for more than anything else in the world, I’d have said I wanted my father to wake up. And maybe the genie did exist after all, because that wish had been granted. Papa was back with us. Okay, not back, exactly—he was still in the hospital and would be for quite some time—but we could hold a short conversation with a mixture of words and blinks.
