CHAPTER 2

ELENA’S POV

I was sitting down, drinking the wine I poured myself

I was so exhausted I didn’t know throwing a party in your house can be this tiring, as more people came I was more nervous, all the things in my apartment are expensive I would rather not imagine someone breaks something or spill drinks on my couch or rug.

“Hello pretty!” I turned, and I saw the dude from the elevator, I don’t even know him and he is my house. Jane!! I screamed in my mind, this idea of partying in my house and inviting almost my colleagues I didn’t like it but what can I do?

“Can I join you” he said?

If you are here to tell me how pretty I look, then no,

“ Well I guess I can sit since I am here to congratulate you and also tell you how nice you look in those dress” he sat down and sips his drink.

I rolled my eyes, men will be men,

“Crystal Hyacinth”, he said my name slowly

If you are about to ask me what kind of name is that, please don’t

“Hmm judging are you, but I was actually about to tell you how nice your name is,” he smiled with those perfect teeth.

Hmm, thanks then, I saw someone put a glass of wine on my rug while she stood up and was pressing her phone while going out

I signed, people can be annoying the kitchen counter wasn’t even far for her to drop it, then I saw another person was walking towards the direction where the glass of wine was.

Oh! no, my expensive rug, Excuse me, I stood up and quickly grabbed the drinks

I walked up to the kitchen counter and poured the drinks in it, just as I was about walking back Jane called me, she was already kind of tipsy and wanted to pee and someone else was using my visitor's bathroom I had to open my room for her to use my toilet.

KEN’S POV

I waited for a while and Cynthia wasn’t coming back, so I went back to meet my friend James. He was actually the one who invited me and when he told me it was Crystal’s party I had to follow him, I mean she is so pretty, and I would like to know her more.

“Saw you talking to Crystal, I didn’t know you know her.

Oh! we meet in the Elevator, she is so pretty since I have been coming to your office I haven’t met any girl who looked so pretty like her.

He bust out laughing, Why are you laughing dude?

“Just so you know, you can’t get her”

Why do you think so?

Dude she’s Crystal, you know what we call in the office “Ice queen” she is a no-go area.

Do you think so? I asked him.

“ Yes, I think so, and I know so.”

Okay, I am going to show you I can get her, dude I am Ken bruh I get any girl I want.

“And if you don’t?”

I will, okay let’s bet if I get her into my bed you will give me your new car and if I don’t, you get to keep mine.

Dude I just got that car, he said

You are rich bruh you can get another one I said laughing then I hit his shoulder

You will lose though, so yeah I bet

I woke up before Alexa will wake me up, which is astounding since that happens once in a blue moon. Shrugging out of my bed, I got into my bathroom to do my normal daily routine which has to do with me taking my shower and brushing my teeth, aside the music Alexa plays.

Today is Saturday, meaning, I get to stay home and clean after the party last night and everyone left my house looked like kids were playing everywhere. I couldn’t even clean anything, I was already tired, I went straight to bed.

I got out of the shower and put on a bum short and tank top and was ready to start cleaning when my phone started ringing

It was my mum calling, she must miss me a lot, it’s been awhile I went home to see her.

" Good morning my lovely daughter, my princess my sweetheart!" She said.

" Good morning, Mum, how was your night?" I said laughing.

"It was fine dear I slept well, yours?"

"Hmm, I kind of slept well too"

“Hope the party went well,” Yes, it did, I said.

"So, my daughter, I called you to let you know I am so happy for you, you finally got your dream job. I am happy, but wouldn’t it be perfect if you were engaged or getting married or even dating."

I knew it, it must be the marriage talk. No wonder she has been calling all week, she was waiting for the perfect time to bring in the marriage talk.

"Mom, I told you I am not ready yet,"I said.

"My dear, you are not getting any younger, now you are the peak of your career is not when you need to settle down. You can’t keep letting your past relationship affect your future, you keep pushing everyone away." She said.

"Mom I am not pushing you or Jane away,"am I?

" Don’t be silly dear, you know what I am talking about, you need someone in your life, and you need to open up, so the right person can come in, you can’t be focusing on your job alone. Give love a second chance honey I am not getting any younger myself, I would be happy to see you in your wedding dress. That’s my dream, the right person is out there honey."

"You think so, Mum?"

"Yes, my love," she said, we both said goodbye, and she hanged up

I sat down on my couch looking around, my house is untidy and my mum just called me on a Saturday morning to remind me I don’t have a man and I need to get married. My day was already ruined, I started picking up the trash everywhere.

After I was done, I ate breakfast and I called Jane to tell what my mum just called to tell me. We both talked for some time, when I started getting sleepy, and I decided to take a nap.

Then my phone started ringing again, I picked it up, and I saw no Caller I'd, who could it be?

"Hello,"I said as I answered the call

“Hello dear, it’s Ken”, how did you get my number, I told him

"Sweetheart, you break my heart with these questions, I got your number from a friend." He said.

"Who is it? He clears his throat, I am not going to tell you, the person wishes to stay anonymous he said laughing."

I wanted to hang up when I remembered my mum warning me about pushing everyone away. Okay, why are you calling me, I asked him

"Are you less busy tomorrow? I want us to go on a date."

"Well, tomorrow I will be busy, and I won’t have time for a date." I said.

"Okay, which do you prefer sweetheart, you're going out on a date with me tomorrow or I am coming to your office tomorrow to ask you out on a date in front of everyone."

"No!! I don’t want any, and please stop calling me sweetheart!" I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, do you want me to you love or baby or honey choose one?"

"No one!" I said rolling my eyes again.

"Okay sweetheart, since you will be busy tomorrow, I guess I have to come to your office to ask you out on a date." Have a nice day sweetheart he said, Won’t you tell me to have a nice day too

"Have a lovely day, I said almost whispering."

“Thank you, my love," he said and hanged up.

I caught myself smiling as I shaked my head.
