CHAPTER 14

Dante's pov: I sat alone in the study long after the house had gone quiet. The leather chair creaked softly when I leaned back, the city lights flickering beyond the tall windows like distant stars. I had finished dinner earlier, but the silence felt heavier than usual. Marco had brought the file about an hour ago — a thick black folder with Tyler’s name stamped on the cover in bold letters. I opened it without hurry. The pages were precise, almost clinical. Tyler’s real name, his gambling debts, the secret bank accounts, the apartment he kept for his side chick, the way he had spent Aria’s money on her while feeding her the lie about a one-million-dollar online debt. Every transaction, every late-night dinner, every text from Vanessa’s number — it was all there. I read it twice. Then I closed the folder, placed it on the desk, and let out a low, dark laugh that echoed in the empty room. “So it seems my little girl is too innocent and too easy to scam,” I said to the empty study, voice quiet but mocking. “She believed every word from that pretty boy’s mouth… and now she’s working here to pay off a debt that was never real.” I twirled the pen between my fingers, eyes narrowed on the file. Tomorrow morning she would be serving breakfast. Tomorrow morning I would have her again — on my lap, in my bed, under my control. And this time, when I took what I wanted, I would make sure she understands exactly who she belonged to. The thought made the blood run hotter in my veins. The next morning I woke to the sound of rain tapping against the window. I stood under the hot shower for a long time, letting the water pound against my shoulders. After I stepped out and dried off, I dressed in my usual black suit — tailored perfectly to hide the dangerous power I carried. In the dining room the staff were already setting up. I took my seat at the head of the table, and the moment the first plate was placed in front of me, I felt her. Aria. She moved silently, head kept down, eyes fixed on the floor as she refilled my glass and set the bread basket beside me. She never once looked up. I could feel the tension in her shoulders, the way her hands trembled slightly when she poured the coffee. I waited until the others had left. Then I stood. “Aria.” She froze. “Sit here,” I said, pointing On my lap. She shook her head quickly, face turning pale. “No, sir. I can’t. I have a boyfriend.” I laughed — low, soft, and dangerous. “Your boyfriend, huh?” I leaned forward, elbows on the table. “You know, you’re quite the loyal girl. But an innocent girl like you shouldn’t believe everyone so easily. Even your boyfriend. Especially your boyfriend.” Her head snapped up. Anger flashed in her eyes — raw, unfiltered. “Don’t talk about my boyfriend like that,” she whispered fiercely. I stood up slowly. In two strides I was around the table. One hand caught her waist, the other grabbed her arm and pulled her straight onto my lap. She landed hard, her thighs straddling mine, my arms locked around her so she couldn’t escape. “So what if I talk about him?” I growled in her ear. “What are you going to do, little girl?” My hand slid down and squeezed her ass hard through the black skirt. She gasped. “Tell me now — did you kept yourself virgin just for that pretty boy? Huh? Tell me.” She struggled, voice muffled against my shoulder. “It’s none of your business.” “Oh, but it is,” I said, voice low and possessive. “Until the day you stop working for me, everything about you is my business. Including that pretty little p***y that belongs to me now.” I gave her ass one last firm squeeze, then stood up and set her on her feet. She straightened slowly, cheeks flushed, eyes wide with nervous fear. I circled around her slowly and stopped right in front of her. I could see the storm in her eyes. “Your boyfriend’s name is Tyler, right?” I asked calmly. “And he has one million dollars in debt. That’s what he told you, isn’t it?” She raised an eyebrow, confused. “How do you know his name? Did you investigate him? And what do you mean by ‘deal’?” I stepped closer. My hand found her waist again, pulling her firmly against my body so she couldn’t escape. “You gave me your first time… and I will give you that one million dollars.” She pushed at my chest, horrified. “I will never betray my boyfriend!” “Oh?” I murmured, leaning in until my lips brushed the shell of her ear. “But you already had my fingers inside that tight little p***y of yours, remember? And you came so hard on them.” Her face flushed crimson. She opened her mouth to argue, but the words died. I moved even closer, voice dropping to a rough whisper. “Deep down you know… if it’s me that I didn’t let you move. You were feeling something. You gave in.” She shook her head wildly, eyes wide with panic. “That was not what I wanted!” Then she did something I didn’t expect. She shoved me hard, turned, and ran. I watched her disappear down the hallway, skirt fluttering, heart hammering. A slow, dangerous smile spread across my face. The game had just become much more interesting.
