Guliano, the aspiring alpha of the Adirondack pack, woke early that morning for a stroll around his home. Though only 14, he was aware of the responsibilities ahead and eager to learn what it truly meant to lead. Though everyone recognized him as the destined alpha, Guliano was determined not to abuse his future power. With the guidance of his older friend Gonzalez, aged 16, he was steadily building the charisma and wisdom needed to lead well.
Hi, Gonzalez,Guliano greeted. I was just taking a stroll and saw you coming out of your place. Got any news for me today, dear friend?
Nope,Gonzalez replied. I already gave you a task. But I dont know if youve been keeping up with it lately the books about how an Alpha leads, in your library. Have you been reading ahead?
Guliano hesitated, trying to come up with an excuse. Uhm… nope,he admitted, looking a bit confused.
You know those books are much, and itll take time to read them,Gonzalez said. But I never asked you to finish them all in one day. I just want you to devote some time, bit by bit, so you get used to reading. Instead, youre giving me excuses.
Guliano sighed. How I wish I were in your shoes. If I were, nobody would ever see me outside again.
Are you serious?Gonzalez asked.
Yeah, I am,Guliano replied as they continued their conversation.
Dont worry, youre like a brother to me, and I know youve got my back,Guliano joked, making them both laugh.
The most interesting part of the book,Guliano added, is learning how Im going to choose my Luna as mate when Im crowned Alpha of Adirondack.
Gonzalez shrugged. No problem, if thats what youre focused on reading, thats your choice.
At Lioras home, she was shivering uncontrollably. Her mum quickly took her inside and covered her with a duvet before rushing to call her dad at the grocery shop.
Hello, dear, please come home immediately. Liora is sick again, and I dont know whats wrong this time,Mrs. Alex pleaded.
Im coming,Mr. Alex replied urgently, forgetting about the customers he was attending to.
When they arrived home, they found Liora unconscious on the floor.
But I just placed her on the bed,Mrs. Alex said, confused. How did she fall?
Dont worry,Mr. Alex said firmly. I think this time we should take her to the hospital.
But I thought you said earlier she was alright,Mrs. Alex replied, a bit confused and placing some blame on her husband.
Without wasting any time, they quickly rushed Liora to the nearby pack hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Liora was quickly attended to at the hospital and given medication. The doctors advised that she rest for a few days before being discharged. Mrs Alex stayed overnight at the hospital to watch over her daughter, while Mr Alex managed things at home and the shop.
To everyones surprise, within two days Liora had fully recovered much faster than Mrs. and Mr. Alex expected, who had feared a more serious and prolonged illness.
To their surprise, everything happened so quickly, and Liora no longer felt any pain. This prompted Mr. Alex to call her for a serious talk, wanting to understand what had really happened and how they could prevent it from happening again.
When Mr. Alex called her in, he questioned Liora, but she found it hard to explain what she was experiencing. She told him about the strange werewolf-like creature she kept seeing when alone, and how it had bitten her on her way to her dads grocery store before she went to Amiras house.
Mrs. Alex tried to listen closely to the conversation, but Mr. Alex grew impatient, insisting it was just stress and too much playing with Amira. Liora kept insisting something was wrong, but her fathers comforting words quieted her.
She had no choice but to stay silent and accept her situation. At least her chores were reduced, and she was given more time to rest and recover from the stress.
The next day, Amira came to check on Liora, wanting to know why she had left so suddenly the other day without saying goodbye. But Liora refused to share the reason, having been strictly warned by Mr. Alex not to tell anyone.
He believed the matter was too serious and beyond her age, and didnt want it to become a joke between her and her playmate, Amira.
Liora and Amira enjoyed a wonderful time together at her own home, much more lively than the previous visit. Amira wondered why Liora had seemed so quiet and withdrawn that day whether she was scared to stay over, or if she suspected something about their werewolf nature. Still, Amira chose to keep her thoughts to herself, not wanting to spoil their fun.
That night, Liora dreamed she heard a soft, female voice calling her name, Aedric. She woke up suddenly, confused and wondering if someone close had called her but realized she was alone.
Oh, its just a dream, she murmured to herself. As she talked quietly, her mother heard and knocked on her door. Startled by the knock, Liora let out a scream.
