Chapter 23

1670 Words
Lucien By the time we had spent exactly 1 hour in the Blood moon pack, I had already had enough. I understood Damien's frustration better now. Because this pack was ruled by manipulative, power-hungry vultures, to say the least. Damien's and Zane's warriors had been busy guarding the borders to instill Zane's orders that no one was allowed to leave the area. Luna Delores had been confined to the dungeon since Damien arrived, and she had been screaming relentlessly ever since. Alpha Corbin was under house arrest in his room, as they hadn´t found any incriminating evidence that he was involved in Lily's abduction, more than that he was a bad father and mate. He was pi*sed to say the least, served him right. Corbin and Delores' oldest son, Jake, greeted us when we arrived. He was extremely nice, accommodating and pretended to mourn Lily's disappearance. The little id*ot must have forgotten he was talking to a 400-year-old vampire because I could hear the lies in his voice right away. His heart skipped a beat on several occasions. Mor*n. Their youngest son seemed like a nice kid though. Adam was 16 but quiet, shy and withdrawn. Tristan and Theo kept him company and he´d been helping out since Damien arrived. Jake, on the other hand, had been vague in explanations, evasive and ingratiating ever since Damien and the twin’s arrival. At the moment, me, Mason, Tristan and Theo have gathered for a meeting to go over testimonies and discuss how to move forward in this mess. We were just waiting for Damien to grace us with his presence. “Hey, you guys! Better late than never I guess?” Damien greeted us as he came rushing into the room. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him. Damien was as sarcastic as always. But his mood seemed to be better, always something. Mason stood up and did a warrior salute to show his respect. During the car ride here, I got to know the man better and I couldn't help but like the down-to-earth wolf. "It´s an honor your highness." Mason greeted him. Damien walked over to shake Mason's hand. "Nice to meet you, Beta Mason. I appreciate your willingness to help", Damien assured. "I'm glad I can be of use, Your Highness." "Please call me Damien. Your Highness sounds like my pretentious father.” Damien said with a brazen smile. "Alright, now that greetings are out of the way, can we get to the point? What do we know about Lily's abduction so far?" I interfered. "I have the recordings from the interrogations. I think we should start by listening to everything." Theo answered me. He sat across from me with Tristan by his side. I could willingly admit that I still had a hard time telling them apart. With their black hair, green eyes and large frames, there was nothing that separated them from each other except for their personalities. Where Theo was more serious and strategic, Tristan was more playful and impulsive. “Let´s do it” I said. Theo pressed play and I was bracing myself for what I was sure would be an unpleasant experience. “The time is currently half past 6 in the evening on May 9th, 2010. The questioning concerns Luna Dolores Wright of the Blood moon pack. The interrogation is led by His Highness, Prince Damien Wulfric, accompanied by Theo and Tristan Colquhoun. Theo's voice could be heard saying through the tape recorder. “Let me out you dogs! I will have you whipped for your disobedience!!” Delores screeched with a shrill voice. “Luna Delores, we're here because we have some questions. The sooner you give us an honest answer, the sooner you'll get out of this dungeon.” "Who do you think you are?! I'm the Luna of this pack. You have no right!" “I am Prince Damien Wulfric and I have every right. “Damien roared in a harsh voice. "I a-apologize, Y-y-your Highness. I d-did not know, I beg your forgiveness.” Damien´s growl could be heard in the background. “First question Delores; Where were you on May 1st between 8-12 in the evening?” "Ehm, I d-d-don't know. I was probably talking to my subordinates like I always do. Then I went to bed and read a book.” “Is that how you talk about your pack members? Subordinates?” "They are beneath us, are they not your highness?” Dolores said with new confidence in her voice. "You cannot put a stamp or rank on loyalty, honesty, compassion or kindness. Every omega, warrior, gamma, beta and alpha are needed. Without one, the other wouldn't make it. Everyone is equally important and equally valuable in their own unique way. Damien scolded. “Of course your highness." She replied meekly. "Second question; Can someone certify your whereabouts on May 1? Was your spouse in the room at the same time as you went to bed?” "Well, me and the alpha no longer share a bedchamber. So no one was in there with me. But I know that all my, hmm, omegas, would back me up and vouch that what I say is the truth. What is this really about? Is someone trying to set me up? I have never hurt a soul in my life!” “That's not what we've heard, Luna. We have received a missing person case from Ms. Cassandra Walker. Ring a bell? The person reported missing is Lily Ellis. Your stepdaughter, is that correct?” “Tssss, that little ungrateful bi*ch probably just ran off. She could never fit in anyway. Stupid and useless.” Delores answered with a snarky attitude. “Is that why you didn't report her missing? Because she was worthless? Does your husband, her father, share your views?” “Pfft, I don´t know. He probably hasn't even noticed she's gone yet. She means nothing to him. I'm not going to spend another minute in this rathole because of a bastard no one cares about. Let me out at once!” “Not so fast. What are the names of the omegas who can tell us your whereabouts the night Lily went missing?” "Uhm, Maria or Mary something? I don't know all their names!" “Well until then, Luna Delores, you are under arrest for the kidnapping of Lily Ellis until proven otherwise.” Damien exclaimed in a harsh tone. “On what grounds! You have no right! No evidence!” Dolores shrieked. "Indeed, we have. We are happy to report that Lily has been found safe and sound. She has recounted the entire story of how you drugged her. So would you like to tell us what really happened that night?" “The nasty little slut! She's lying!! I will tear her to pieces!! How can you believe someone as unworthy as her!?! She is nothing!!” Delores' shrill shriek and trashing around in her chains overpowered Damien´s next words. Then the recording abruptly stopped. “And the unhinged woman has been screaming ever since.” Tristan snickered. “That´s not funny, little brother. We'll soon have a muiny on our hands because the guards have had enough of her shrill voice.” Theo exclaimed with a shiver. “You were born 1 minute before me, it hardly counts.” Tristan objected. "I am smarter and better looking as well and that sure does count, little brother." Theo provoked while leaning back with his arms resting behind his head. “Can we please focus? Or do you two need a diaper change?” I taunted them while Mason tried to hide his laugh behind a cough. “Hey old man! The Middle Ages sent a carrier pigeon and demanded your return.” Tristan jeered while Theo cheered him on. “I was born in 1609 you uneducated brats.” I hissed back. Mason struggled to hold back his laughter while Damien pinched the bridge of his nose, taking deep breaths. "I'm too old for this sh*t. All right pull yourselves together for the sake of the unity for 5 minutes, is that so fu*king hard?" Damien scolded and then continued “Good, now move on to the rest of the interrogations. Cassandra was the one who reported Lily missing. We have spoken to her and her parents. They seem to be good people. Anyway, if we sum up their stories, all three of them told us that Lily was an outcast in the pack and bullied throughout her life. That she was kept as a slave more or less, but that they did the best they could to protect her. Apparently, Luna Delores had tried to come between Cassie and Lily's friendship earlier. But Cassie's father, Henry, threatened to contact alpha Corbin's father, Connor, if they tried to come between them. Connor has apparently been living in solitary exile in an unknown location since his chosen mate's passing 19 years ago. Only Henry and Corbin have a way to reach him. They also told me that they had saved up money for Lily so she could start a new life elsewhere and that she would meet them at the border at midnight on the night she disappeared.” “I understand that they wanted her to have a better life. This girl seems to have been through hell. But what were they thinking when they had only intended to let her go? A wolf can't survive on its own without its pack, an omega, no the less?” Mason uttered and Damien replied," That's where it gets interesting. According to Henry, Lily isn´t an omega. Her Grandfather was a Sigma Lycan, and her father is a true alpha. If Lily inherited their genes, she has stronger blood than any other Alpha in the United States. I'd say that's a damn big motive…
