Lucas Morrison
Not everyone is born lucky. I happened to be in the lucky part. I was someone who seized this opportunity whenever and wherever. Now, with the power my father wielded, I could do whatever I pleased because my father was Nicolas Morrison, one of London's most prominent mafia bosses.
I was Lucas Morrison, set to inherit this empire in the future. No one could challenge me; if they dared, I would crush them with my influence. I was instilled with this sense of confidence, groomed privately by my father.
The girl before me appeared quite immature, yet her innocence seemed to captivate me even more. It wasn't solely her immaturity that intrigued me; there was something more, but...
The color drained from her face after my last statement. She was fearful, a natural reaction. While I would never force a woman to do anything against her will, I possessed the ability to ignite desire and passion in her, making her yearn for it intensely. It would ignite, burning brightly and rendering her irresistible.
Although she seemed to have much to express, she remained silent, unable to voice her thoughts directly to me.
"Do you understand, Victoria? Speak to me! Why the silence?"
Victoria, timid and fearful on the surface, harbored inner turmoil. There was a dormant volcano within her, waiting to erupt. When that day arrived, the truth would be unveiled, as everyone harbors a mixture of emotions within.
She didn't respond directly and instead brought up another matter. "I also have a request."
I laughed. I was expecting something like this. I knew exactly what her condition and request would be. She would want something about her family. I recognized her. If her family wasn't in that situation, she would never be a girl who would accept my offer. Of course, I looked into it. She was the daughter of a modest family.
I crossed my arms. "Tell me."
"You will save my family from that man."
Just as I had anticipated. I nodded in agreement.
"Understand that it's done. I will ensure your family's safety from them, but once they are safe, you must remain with me. Remember this. I have told you once, and I will say it again. You are mine. I will not easily let go of what is mine. I own you."
She appeared incredibly timid while gazing at me, a look that puzzled me. Although she studied architecture, she lacked friendship. Deep within her lay untapped potential hindered by some unseen barrier. She didn't struggle to break free from her constraints. What was holding her back?"
"Why do you exhibit such timidity, Victoria?" I questioned.
"The experiences have been overwhelming. I've never encountered such situations before. Isn't it obvious? You suddenly presented me with an offer. Initially, it was one night, then it progressed to desiring ownership of my body. I previously—"
She couldn't continue. I understood what she meant. She had never been intimate with anyone before. It was evident even in her demeanor. It didn't need to be explicitly stated.
"You'll get used to it. You'll discover the potential within yourself. You'll desire it fervently. Remember this. No one is purely good or bad. Every individual has both darkness and light. Inside you resides a woman who embodies both courage and timidity."
She regarded me differently.
"So, which are you? Good or bad?" she inquired.
She was well aware of the answer to her own question. As she stood beside me, I placed my hand on her neck once more, drawing her closer as I traced her birthmark.
"Don't ask questions to which you already know the answers, Victoria."
I intentionally exhaled near her lips. Her immediate excitement was palpable. I could hear the rapid thud of her heart.
"You become excited quite easily. You are proving to me slowly that your body cannot resist me. Gradually, you will learn everything."
"I don't want to get hurt," she whispered. "Please don't hurt me. Don't break my heart."
I chuckled at her words.
Love had no bearing on me. I held reverence for love due to my parents, but my desire lay in power. Despite my father's belief that true power lay in the woman who empowers him, I disagreed with him on that matter. Even my friend had fallen in love, and the outcome was evident. That's why I steered clear of love.
"What heart? My concern is not with your heart, I merely desire your body. This is my first and final warning to you, Victoria. Do not fall in love with me. If you do, you will be the one to suffer the most."
With that, I rose from my seat.
"I'll be departing shortly. Do not open the door for anyone except me. If you attempt to flee the premises, I will track you down, Victoria. You're intelligent. I am showing you kindness now because of your immaturity, but if you make a misstep, my demeanor won't be as kind. You came here to repay the favor for my help."
"I have nowhere else to go. I mean, I can't go."
I chuckled. "I fear nothing. You may have observed our investigators that night. My father is Nicolas Morrison. I am his son as well."
"So, you're implying that you're nothing without your father?"
It was the first time I heard an improper remark from her. A smirk touched the corner of my lips. I didn't intend to show anger towards her. Placing my hands on her sides, I drew closer and exhaled near her. She fluttered her eyelashes incessantly.
"I will prove to you that I am not a nobody."
Instantly, her breathing shifted.
"Rest now. Try not to move your arm excessively. I'll require it," I remarked with a wink.
Leaving the living room, I took a shower and donned my suit before returning.
She remained seated, leaning against the wall.
"I'm taking my leave. Do not unlock the door for anyone, alright?"
"I understand. I won't open it."
"If you grow bored, switch on the TV. There's also a tablet in my room," I mentioned.
"Um, my phone..."
"You left it in the car. My men informed me this morning. I'll retrieve it later in the evening."
"Thank you."
I planned to retrieve her phone as she had no one else. She was perceptive and wouldn't contact the authorities, understanding that if she did, I would promptly respond.
Exiting the residence, I needed to gather information regarding the man we apprehended the previous night.
Victoria was unaware why he was after her as well. I needed to learn.
As soon as I arrived at the hideout, I immediately went to the men we captured last night. Both of them had bloodied faces.
Upon seeing me, fear was evident in their expressions. They appeared nervous, especially the individual who had shot Victoria. I couldn't beat him there. They were inside.
"How did you find my place? Have my men treated you well? Are they quite hospitable?" I asked, sarcastically.
Neither of them uttered a word. I pulled out a chair and sat directly across from them, crossing my legs. "Now, tell me. What is David Thompson's purpose?"
They continued their silence.
"If you remain silent, you will face severe repercussions," I warned.
"We don't know. We simply followed orders," one of them finally spoke.
Shaking my head, I leaned forward with my elbows on my knees, placing my hand on my chin. "Really? That's hard to believe. You have no idea why he's after that girl, is that correct?"
The assailant who harmed Victoria affirmed, "Yes, we are unaware."
"I find it hard to comprehend your audacity to deceive. Speak the truth now! Why are you targeting that girl?"
"Victoria—"
I cut him off. "Do not speak her name! Or I'll remove your tongue!"
"David was the one who instructed us to go after the girl, but he doesn't disclose everything to everyone," he divulged.
I signaled to my men. One of them approached, holding a hammer, causing both individuals' eyes to widen in apprehension.
"Are you still not going to speak?"
The other one replied, "Dude, I just know this. He said that girl must die, otherwise there would be a bloodbath. His goal is to capture that girl and kill her," he stated, causing my eyebrows to furrow.
Why did they want Victoria to die? What motives were behind their actions?
"For what?" I inquired.
"That girl was a very important person."
What did he mean by important? His father was a simple factory worker. What significance does she hold?
"Was there a past connection between them?" I questioned.
He shook his head. "No. We've never encountered her before. Dude, we swear we don't know anything else."
I acknowledged his response. Standing up, I faced the individual who had harmed Victoria. "Did you contact David?"
He shook his head. Regardless of whether he had made the call or not, I intended to send a message. If David had any sense, he wouldn't dare cross me. He was well aware of us. Despite my young age, I remembered the hardships he imposed on my family. He wouldn't get away with it now. We wouldn't allow him to live.
"I couldn't make the call."
"Such a pity. Let's address the real issue! Who are you to open fire on me? Who opposes you? What courage drove you, knowing it would lead to your demise?"
He began to tremble. Taking hold of his face, I applied pressure, causing him to groan in pain.
"Are you left-handed?" I inquired.
He shook his head. "I am not."
"Good. Then you're right-handed, right?"
Tears streamed down his face. Where did David find these incompetent individuals? They were now crying like infants.
"Why did you ask, brother?"
I stepped away from him, moving behind him. I began twisting the fingers of his bound right hand, prompting him to scream out in agony.
"Don't cry out! The fingers that aimed at me will pay the price! Be cautious next time you point a gun at someone!" I declared as I broke his fingers.
As he wailed in pain, I remarked, "Silence him!"
As I issued the command, they silenced him with a piece of cloth forced into his mouth. I tapped the other on the cheek, his expression filled with horror.
"You're off the hook for now because my patience has worn thin. Next time I return, you'll face your consequences!" He swallowed hard after my stern words.
One question lingered in my mind as I dressed and exited the room: Who was Victoria, and what did they want from her? There was definitely more to this, and I was determined to uncover it all.
