"Get the candles, Ley!" Mel screamed from where she stood. Frankly, I did not understand why we had to put candles on the "Welcome to this world, baby Lucian" cake, but for reasons best known to her, Mel insisted - and I mean vehemently - that we put nine candles on the cake to signify the nine months he spent in my womb.
