Even though I could no longer hear a word that came out of his mouth - since the sound of my heart pounding against my chest was more than enough noise. While he sat and narrated what seemed to me like the story of how he found out about his thrilling news, my two hands gripped the sides of my chair, taking full control of the steel as I rose up to my feet.
I could not say I was surprised that he had gone to such a bizarre length. If anything, I was disappointed. I had known he would go over the edge, but I had expected him to make a wiser choice than forcing me into marriage with a woman whom he knew I wanted nothing to do with.
