  Kayla   The air in the chamber suddenly felt heavier at the moment of his last word. I froze like a dash of icy water had been poured on me, and a chill ran down my spine as I pulled away from Asher. His gaze was heavy and spellbinding. I placed my hand over my chest, feeling my erratic beats.   His golden amber irises were drilling holes into my skull as he muttered again.   "What do you want from me, Kayla?" His cold eyes regarded me thoroughly. For a split second, I thought I saw a flash of emotion stalk his amber eyes. That was impossible, though.
