Initial Shock

1153 Words
Ethan Davidson We walk around the mall for what seems like hours. Kim and June have become bestfriends in the matter of minutes and I already regret this. They gang up on me to interrogate me about  Sam, but I've already told them everything. June looks at me as if I'm hiding something. I'm not.  "I just have one more question." Kim says, staring at her self in the mirror with a tight black dress on. "Why do you think you love her already? I mean you don't even know this girl."  "You told her you loved her!" June crashes out of the dressing room and stares at me with her mouth open. "NO! I didn't say that!" I glare at Kim and she glares back grabbing out her phone "And I quote ‘Kim, I think I love this girl.’ I have your text to prove it." She shows June the message and they both put their hands on their hips. It's like they're twins but Kim is a little shorter and a lot more Asian than June.  "Maybe I meant it like how I love you? Like a sibling or friend crap." I look down. I don't know what I feel. I'm not sure it's love but I haven't felt like this before. When I'm around her, around her glow, it does something to me. "Was she your first kiss?" June looks me in the eye and I feel my cheeks heat up. "Yeah she was." Kim was quick to reply, I give her a scowl and she smiles at me. "Well that explains the feelings. You need to get over the initial shock of a kiss." She walks over to me and I realize I'm sitting in her wheelchair so I get up. "Here." June grabs my face and plants her lips on mine. I move into it and place my hand on her waist. She breaks away but still a mere inch from my face. "Still think you love her?" She whispers and steps back into the changing room closing the door. I stare at Kim and she stares at me with a shocked expression. What the f**k just happened? “Where did you find this girl?” Kim is staring at me but points her finger towards June’s change room. I realize I forgot about this morning. The news. The anger. “The hospital.” I say as I sludge down in June’s wheelchair again. “That’s where you were this morning? What’s going on?” Kim takes a step closer to me kneels. She can that something is not right. “Are they back?” Kim puts her hand on mine and has a reassuring smile. I would believe her if I didn’t know the outcomes of these scenarios. “You could say that.” I look down, too ashamed to continue. I know Kim is strong and would stick by me through anything, but I don’t want to put this on her shoulders. “So, are you still in love with that Samantha?” Kim smirks at me and I chuckle. “I don’t think I was. She just made me feel…” I stop mid sentence as I see June in a navy-blue dress. It’s about mid thigh length but has a layer on top going just past her knees. The sweetheart neckline makes my heart beat a little faster. “Wow.” “GODDAMN WOMAN!” Kim shouts and walks over to June. June’s face turns bright red and looks down. Her hand starts to twitch and buries it into the tool. “How do you look that good?!” Kim continues to whistle and make comments to June. I stare at her. Unable to avert my gaze, I know she feels uncomfortable with the attention, but I can’t stop staring. “Okay I’m gonna change.” She looks in me in the eye and she turns another shade darker. How could the girl in front of me be embarrassed by how beautiful she looks when not even 5 minutes ago she kissed me. It was a great kiss, might I add. I wouldn’t have stopped if she hadn’t. It did its job of getting over the initial Samantha kiss. I wonder if that’s what kissing any girl feels like. If so, I understand why those guys have become man whores. “so, should I get the dress or not?” June walks out of the change room in her purple pleather jacket again. Kim’s quick response makes June jump and laughs a little. “What do you think, Tumor?” She looks directly at me and smiles while holding the dress to her body. I feel myself nod, unable to speak still. “Tumor?” Kim looks at me confused. She’s used to me being called things around my VHL but this was more of a term of endearment. “Yeah, he still hasn’t told me his name.” June responds to Kim with her hand on her hip. “Girl, you’re telling me you kissed this guy and don’t even know his name?!” June laughs and it fills the room with light. I look deeper at her features. Her ocean blue eyes look they’ve seen her fair share of storms. The way she smiles make her have a dimple left side of her face. “He’s not the first, not the last.” June walks past me and I feel like my heart tore a little bit. This is how June is. It reminded me that I don’t know her. What is up with me trying to fall for these girls who I don’t even know. “It’s Ethan.” I grab her wrist and she turns to me shocked. She quickly snatches her hand back giving me a glare. “Tumor suits you better.” She smirks and sits in her wheelchair. Expecting me to push her along. I chuckle a bit and take her to cashier. Kim and her pay then we walk around the mall some more. “So, you didn’t answer my question.” Kim breaks the silence and looks over to me. “Do you still love her?” I can tell June tensed a bit but doesn’t look at me. “I wasn’t in love with her. It just felt different.” I look at June but she’s still staring straight ahead. It was different kissing June. It wasn’t a warm feeling flooding through my body. It was like a pull. A desire. A want. Maybe a need. “I guess it worked then.” Kim shrugs her shoulders and continues pushing June in her chair. I can tell June smirked. It made me smirk too.                                        Did she feel it? Or does she feel nothing. She said I wasn’t the first one she’s done this to. Was she lying? Maybe she kissed chronically ill guys all the time. I have no way of knowing how many roommates in the hospital she’s had. I feel pain in my chest when thinking about her lips on another guy. Am I jealous?! If I am, I don’t have a right to be. I don’t own June. I don’t even know if I like her. I met her today. Get real for f**k sakes, Ethan.
