Chapter 2

The fog soon cleared and it was my diva I had pinned on the floor surrounded by other students and our master. It seemed to have been a test from the beginning. Applaud rose from the crowd that circled us. My diva Sammy gave me an ugly smirk and over powered me lifting me off the ground and kept me suspended in the air. I wailed like a baby for her to put me down. Yes, my diva was a girl and she was pretty strong at that, I wonder why my mother made such a choice. Usually most of the females had male divas because male divas were presumed to have less weaknesses and more guidance. “Why not a male diva?” I always questioned my mother's decisions but she left with her family during the time of fear. I couldn't stand Sammy at all. She was a pain in the ass. She threw me on the ground and I groaned from the pain.” That's for aiming your claws at me you cry baby" " Didn't ask to be ambushed you weirdo” I said springing off the ground and dusting myself off the dust. " Enough bickering you two” our master called us to order and summon the other students. “We are each other’s strength and weakness, you need to know your pair like the palm of your hand, Grow up war is soon to come We need our defenses strong You are the future You are our strength to continue fighting…” The speech was endless but I could hardly focus as Sammy had no intention of letting go that I pinned her to the ground. She threw endless threat notes at me. Soon the master caught on and placed us two on camp duty. We polished the wrestling gears as the other students continued lectures. I returned home in the evening feeling tired and weary I retired to my room freshened up and was set for dinner. I proceeded to the dinner hall where dinner was set for my father and I. ~At the dinning hall~ “ Where is big uncle?" I asked about Paul as I found him missing in the room. We always had dinner together. “ Sit,” my father instructed with a gloomy face. I sat and we started eating with the room filled with unusual silence. I finally broke the endless silence “you know we can sense emotions, could you let it out already Father?" “Finish your food first" he returned with a cold gesture not even daring to look me in the eye. Filled with a sense of unease I proceeded to eat in a hurry my anxiety grew and I couldn't contain it. “Try and stay calm, I feel too much anxiety in the air" my Father said. " You know I can't contain it father, if only you could let the cat out of the bag probably we will be having dinner in peace’ “ You're always awkward as ever, Only bug uncle saddles you now you have chased him away like you did with mum" I said unconsciously in an angered mood. “Young lady! You will address me with respect and such words will not be uttered at this table" my Father refrained me from saying any further words as he sensed I had tampered from an emotion that wandered past the room. “ I'm sorry Father" I finally calmed down and finished the portion on my plate. He noticed my saddled look and decided to start a conversation. “ Your master has complained of your uncanny behavior, I don't want to complain about you again." “ But dad, Sammy is just a pain in my soul", “ That's their nature" my father interrupted me " We are the Superior ones, DNT let it be the other way round, I expect nothing but excellence from you “ " Yes father” I gave in to a surrender seeing facts from his appeal. “Secondly, with your big uncle and I, we got news that your mother…” “ Don't bring her into this" Paul cut in with a serious look on his face “Uncle” I said leaving my mouth gaps open as I faced Paul “ This is a family affair, she deserves to know and not be in the dark" my father continued, facing me with disappointment in his eyes. I was more curious as my father rarely discussed issues concerning my mother. “ She could be alive", “what?" I screamed, cutting in with hesitation. “We are not sure yet Edwin, don't let emotions of Julia overwhelm your sense of judgement" Paul echoed with an intense voice and a sense of plead. “She is still my daughter’s mother, having her back will help Hernia" She should have thought of that before she upped and left her daughter. “ She is still my responsibility" my father pressed the conversation on. The last words I could grasp was " she could be alive” I had always wondered what happened, why she left. The two paused, noticing my silence. My father sensed an unfamiliar emotion from me. “Are you ok child?" He questioned. "Yes dad, I will take my leave now” I said storming out of the room. I ran out and went to get Sammy. Luckily I found her immediately I stormed out pulling her to a corner of the dining hall. She demanded to know what I was up to but I just needed her to help me block out my emotions. I clinged fast and hard to hand, that was all we needed to help the magic work as I eavesdropped on the conversation. “ You shouldn't have brought the little girl into this; she is too young to be entangled in all this uncertainty. How do we know she will be willing to follow us back home, besides she fled with her lover" " You know she had no choice her father was never going to accept me, she did it to keep Hernia safe” “Because you feel emotions doesn't mean you are right. What mother picks her father's wish for her child?” “You need to trust me on this Paul, support me on this” Finally the two stopped bickering and agreed on a term. “I will let you look for her but you will send out a few men in disguise first to ascertain her position and safely escort her out of the bare land, you know the old wolves inhabit most of that area now. I can't have you endanger your life like that, Hernia still needs her father” Paul came to a conclusion. Sammy knew how impulsive I could be so she told me not to do anything rash. We both retired for the night in our different rooms. ~At wee hours~ I got ready to pack a few clothes and food in an animal skin bag my father gifted me for my 15th birthday. Stepping outside, few touches were on from guards keeping watch. I sneaked into my father's study carefully avoiding dictation, I got hold of a map on the table and set out to leave. I fled into the woods and soon I lost sight of our small town. I was now alone, my nocturnal eyes guided me as I journeyed. I knew my father and uncle would be super worried but my strong will surpassed the feeling of worry. I wanted to find out the truth for myself. The real reason behind my mother's absence.
