Three weeks had passed since my stay here. I was training all those days after he refused to conduct the test, and his words still ring in my ears:
"I don't want to draw attention to you."
While I was immersed in training, trying to regain my strength and adapt to this new reality, the maid came and cut my train of thought.
"The Alpha wants you in his office."
She said it in a low voice, as if she feared the news might disturb me.
I sighed, as if trying to accept reality.
"This is what I was missing,"
I said to myself. I had no other choice.
I nodded to her, and went to see what the Alpha wanted.
I pushed the door and entered.
There was nothing but this feeling of tension that I was used to, as we were ignoring each other on purpose.
I was looking for answers, but what I saw in the office was far from my expectations.
I saw a broad and familiar body to me, talking to Knight, that arrogant man.
I couldn't control myself, so the name
"Klaus"
came out of my mouth in shock. Klaus looked at me with the same look of surprise, then said:
"What are you doing here, Sera?"
I didn't give him a chance to speak, and I repeated the same question to him:
"What are you doing here, Klaus?"
The meeting was sudden, as both of us did not expect to see the other.
It was just an annoying noise in the background when he said:
"Do you know each other?"
It wasn't a question, but an announcement of his authority, an attempt by him to confirm that he is the one in control.
I ignored him, and I completely ignored his annoyance that was clearly appearing on his handsome face.
I knew that he expected me to back down, but I stepped forward with steady steps toward Klaus, to embrace him.
Then I added,
"I missed you, Klaus."
"This i***t is preventing me from leaving the palace."
I had to say it. To release all the anger that gathered inside me because of his endless restrictions.
I felt his body freeze between my hands, and his breath stopped for a few seconds.
It wasn't a freeze from my action but from something else, something deeper and more terrifying.
I pulled away from him quickly, and asked him in confusion:
"What is wrong with you?"
At that moment, he saw me. He didn't just see me as Sera, but he saw something else.
His eyes were following a mark on my body, and when he saw it, his shock turned into pure terror.
His lips opened to say one word with a trembling voice:
"Luna!"
My features frowned immediately.
"Don't call me by this stupid title!"
I said it sharply, and crossed my arms over my chest to put a barrier between me and a truth I don't want to face.
While I was drowning in the shock of Klaus's reaction, I looked at Knight.
His anger had surpassed all limits.
His face was red, and his eyes... his eyes were no longer human. The moment that preceded his words was full of silent tension.
His grip on his hand was tight, to the point that his knuckles were protruding from under his skin.
This was no longer the Knight I know, but someone else. Then he uttered his words, words that almost killed me before they killed Klaus:
"OUT."
The order was directed at Klaus, but the sound echoes in my ears as if it were directed at me too.
What followed that was more terrifying. I heard Knight pressing on his teeth strongly.
"I am dead inevitably,"
I said to myself.
Klaus set off quickly, as if he was fleeing from a fate that cannot be escaped. We were left alone in that room.
His steps toward me were slow, calculated, and heavy. Jealousy or anger were no longer what controlled his facial expressions, but something blacker and more horrible.
His handsome face that I knew turned into a mask of horror.
While he was advancing slowly, the transformation happened.
His eyes were no longer that gray color, but turned into a thick liquid of pitch-black darkness, no trace of white in them, as if they were two openings to a deep abyss.
Around it, sunken black veins began to emerge from under his skin, spreading like a poisonous spider web along his face, as if they were cracks in marble that was once a handsome face.
The scene was truly terrifying. This was no longer the Knight I know, but a strange entity, very strange.
He had lost his control over that "thing" that he tries to hide.
He lost control of the monster that lives in him, and here it is now appearing on the surface, crawling into existence with every step he takes toward me.
I felt like my soul was withdrawing from my body, and that fear was controlling me.
His movement was sudden and violent. He grabbed my waist with a strong grip, his claws digging deep into my body.
He was no longer Knight, but a monster controlled by something dark.
I closed my eyes with sharp pain, trying to suppress a scream on the verge of coming out. I felt a warm liquid running on my waist, blood.
I must do something, I must stop him. I must calm him down before he kills me.
I raised my trembling hand slowly, and placed it gently on his cheek.
His skin was cold, as if it was covered in ice. I whispered his name:
"Knight."
Hope was filling my voice, hope that he would wake up, but no use.
He increased in digging his claws, and the pain increases in strength.
"Damn," I thought to myself, I must do something else. I pulled him toward me, and embraced his head, while I was stroking his hair gently.
I was saying to him in a whispering and reassuring voice:
"It's okay, everything will be fine."
After my desperate attempts to calm him, Knight responded suddenly.
He didn't leave me, but buried his head deep into the cavity of my neck. I felt his hot breath panting on my skin, and he was inhaling my scent deeply, as if he was trying to find something familiar in the midst of the chaos that controls him.
This was an attempt by him to calm the monster that is inside him, an attempt to return to reality.
I didn't stop passing my hand over his head calmly, as if I was taming a predator.
After those moments that went on, he raised his head slowly, and returned to his natural shape, but his eyes were now carrying a deep shock.
He looked at his hand, maybe he smelled the scent of my blood, so he moved it away quickly as if it was burning.
The shock was overcoming him, as he looks at my waist which became covered in blood.
I raised his head with my hand, as if I am containing his face between my palms, and I tried to reassure him.
This wasn't the strong Knight that I knew, but he was a scared child from a mistake he committed.
"Look at me, don't worry. It's a small wound, it will heal quickly,"
I said it, trying to look reassuring.
I tried not to laugh, but his cute appearance while he was staring at me with eyes wide open, unable to understand what happened, was very funny.
I couldn't control myself. I burst out laughing.
My laughter was filling the room, as if I am trying to break the barrier of fear that controls us.
Knight was still in a state of shock, staring at me with bewilderment, as if he doesn't believe that I am laughing at this situation.
Knight returned to his usual nature, but with that feeling of guilt that was accompanying him. He said with a voice full of tension:
"SHOW ME."
He was asking to see the wound. I looked at him and ignored his question, so he proceeded to lift my shirt, staring at the wound that was healing quickly.
"I told you it's a simple wound."
I said it while I was covering my exposed belly with shyness.
He sighed with relief, but his feeling of guilt did not leave him.
He started circling in the room, passing his hand in his hair with anger at his action.
"I must find a solution for this thing,"
he said it while he was cursing.
As for me, I was sitting on the sofa, contemplating him, enjoying seeing his anger, and his feeling of guilt at his recklessness.
"So why did you ask to see me?"
I cut off his thoughts with my words. He looked at me with his usual coldness. He was silent, as if he was trying to find the appropriate words.
"What? You are the one who asked for my coming,"
I said it trying to provoke him to make him talk. My words were a mixture of anger and curiosity.
The room was full of tension. Knight was silent, and I was waiting.
Our looks were intersecting, as if they were a duel.
"Tomorrow I will supervise your training."
He said it while he was heading to his seat, without bothering himself to look at me.
He was staring at the papers that were in front of him, and holding his pen strongly signing on them, as if he was trying to hide in his work from my looks.
I nodded to him, but I couldn't control myself. I wanted to know more, to understand what is going on in his head.
"What are you doing?"
I asked him but he did not answer me. He continued in his work ignoring my presence as if I am just air.
I looked at him with annoyance.
But my curiosity was stronger than anything else.
I cannot leave the matter pass without understanding what happened. What was that thing that I saw? That entity that almost killed me? I must know.
I stopped staring at him, and tried to gather myself.
"Knight... what was that thing?"
I said it with a calm voice, hoping that he would satisfy my curiosity.
He stopped writing suddenly.
He raised his head and looked at me, his eyebrows knitted, as if he is weighing my words in his mind.
They were moments of silence, a silence that almost killed me. I was waiting for his answer impatiently.
After moments, he said with a low voice:
"My hybrid."
I blinked several times, as if I did not grasp what he said.
"Your hybrid?"
I said it, as if I am trying to confirm what I heard.
"You are a hybrid?"
He kept staring at me calmly, as if his words were enough to explain everything. But they weren't.
They weren't enough. They weren't even a beginning.
I continued my series of questions, saturating my curiosity that was increasing with every moment:
"What is his name? And from which species?"
I wanted to know everything. I wanted to understand who Knight really is.
His answer was frank, and cold, as if he is throwing an inescapable truth.
"Black... demon."
The two words were echoing in my head, as if they are a beginning for a new book.
"Demon,"
I repeated it, but this time there was no fear. There was a feeling of excitement, of curiosity, as if I discovered a big secret.
"This is great!"
I said it with a smile, and I really meant it. I did not wait for him to speak, I continued my series of questions, saturating my curiosity that was increasing with every moment:
"What are his abilities?"
At that moment, I saw a glimpse of blackness pass from his gray eyes, as if he is trying to bury the truth again.
He was silent.
"Enough questions, I have works."
He said it, and returned to his papers, writing on them strongly, as if he is trying to escape from the truth that I revealed.
His ignoring me and his sharp words were enough to make me feel bored.
"Yaaah, you are boring."
I said that with disapproval, as if I am trying to show him that I no longer care. I intended to leave. Before I go out, I turned to him.
"What was Klaus doing here?"
I asked him, and my look at him carried a challenge.
He looked at me with anger, as if he is promising him with torment.
"He is the Gamma."
He said, as if this is enough to explain everything. But I wasn't convinced.
"That jerk Klaus... was he just humoring me? But he is a brilliant actor."
While I was about to leave, I bumped into someone. It was Arin. He did not have time to apologize.
His face carried an expression of fear and urgency.
"Alpha Knight, we are under attack!"
, he said it while he was launching toward him.
Knight froze in his place. The anger was overcoming him.
"That cursed one!"
He said it while he was about to leave. I knew that something dangerous was happening, and I felt that I cannot stay here, to stand handcuffed.
