TIFFANY. My feet moved on their own accord heading for the young mistress's room, my vision was blurry and groggy but I had no choice but to comply with her order. It was no surprise that she hated me and despite pushing me down the stairs three days ago, she made sure I got back to work immediately while I wished I bumped my head and died right there at that moment. My back aches and so does my heart but it has been broken one too many times, it made no difference that I might be wounded inside or slowly die of internal bleeding. I opened the door right down the hallway leading to her room, and I knocked on the silver-painted door. A dry 'come in' was said from the other side of the door. I wonder what this is about and I didn't fail to notice the house was in disarray. The master has been barking out orders to his men and our mistress told all the maids to leave. All except me. The outcast. The orphaned girl they took in. I entered the room and ducked just in time as a heel came flying and it hit the door, "You useless mute! I called for you and you took five minutes before getting your sluggish ass to move" She sneered and I bowed my head avoiding eye contact with her as she ordered. "A slave shouldn't look at the master in the eyes unless you are begging for it to be plucked out" Those were her words the day I lost my voice. Not that I couldn't speak but I forgot how to even try, I wasn't taken to the hospital or anything even after she tortured me. I still remember that day vividly but I'm sure she has forgotten. I was a fragile thirteen-year-old and I made the mistake of calling her Auntie Elise. She cut my long brown hair and burned my skin with her hair stretcher. I cried and begged until I couldn't speak. That was three years ago and I'm sixteen now. She doesn't fail to remind me of what she could do to me, "Help me pack my shoes and arrange them neatly inside that cart, chop, chop, get to work before I slap that pathetic face of yours!" She snapped and I instantly started packing, my back ached as I squatted to pick up her shoes but ignored the sharp pain I felt although it slowed me down. "You are lucky Daddy insisted that you will come with me, I wouldn't mind leaving you to die here" She scoffed and kicked my back causing me to groan. I think it's broken... My head was yanked back and it felt like my scalp was on fire, I jerked back with trembling lips as she tugged on my hair. "You are not worth saving, I will leave you here to die without Daddy knowing" She smirked and pushed me away. I don't know what I deserved to go through this torment, Elise Hound hated me from the day she set her eyes on me. She and her mother made sure that I was always crying and if I made the slightest mistake, they'd pounce on me. Her father never really cared about me and I regret the day he came to take me away from my house. I lost my parents and I thought he was going to take care of me because of his close relationship with them. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I hastily helped her pack and stood there watching as she applied her makeup, "In case you are wondering what's going on, Daddy made a deal with some bad people and they are coming to destroy this house and kill everyone in it. I will be long gone before they arrive and you will stay in your little room. If you survive then feel free to go to the streets, if you don't then it will be a shame" She cackled while applying lip gloss. Although I don't understand what she just said, I know one thing for sure I'm going to die today. A guard knocked and opened the door, "Young Miss the car is ready, we have to go now" He bowed with urgency laced in his tone. "Good, take the luggage downstairs. Tiffany, carry those bags" She ordered and I obliged taking the bags, I trailed behind the guard. "Where are your things?" He asked and I couldn't reply so he sighed, "Are you not coming?" He asked and I shook my head. He muttered something under his breath leaving me confused, we got to the SUV and loaded her things in the booth. Then I stood there waiting for her as she walked out of the house. "We leave in five minutes" The driver announced and the guard took her bag from her shoulder, she was heading to her car when her mother came out of the house. I watched as mother and daughter hugged each other, "Come with me mama" She said surly. "No dear, we need to try and negotiate with him. He will notice we are missing and try to find us, it will be easier if you go alone" Madam Cordelia said to her daughter and they said their goodbyes before she hopped into the car, my mistress's gaze fell on me and she frowned before leaving. The car reversed to leave the compound and the window on the backseat rolled down revealing Elise's devilish smirk. "Now run, go to your room and hide" She ordered and tilted her head towards the far end of the manor, a storage house built to keep bags of grain. I bowed and headed for my room as the car drove off, I was halfway to my quarters when three black vans drove into the manor. I didn't understand what was going on and in a blink, shots were fired, the guards at the security post fell down dead right in front of me and they were yelling and I heard Elise's father barking out orders. I ran ignoring the pain in my body and there was a loud explosion. The ground trembled under my feet and I fell, more gunshots were fired and I could see that we were getting outnumbered. I tried getting up but I ended up falling down so I crawled towards my room, more yelling and gunshots, another explosion sent splinters of wood and rocks everywhere. I was covered in sand as I shielded my head with my hand, a choking sound escaped my lips. "Am I really going to die today?" I asked inwardly, crawling until I got to the storage room, gunshots echoed in the air, and after another explosion it was silent then I gave up trying to keep my eyes open. "I'm going to die today" I smiled happy that at least I get to die like this instead of being shot, my vision was blurry and there was a loud pitch ringing in my ears suddenly the door of the storage room was flung open. I suddenly realized I didn't want to die. A menacing figure stood at the threshold looking down at me, I couldn't see clearly but it was a man with light brown hair dressed in a black suit with a glock on his hands. No. No, not like this. "Who are you?" He demanded in the most deep masculine voice I had ever heard, my heart skipped a beat. He is going to shoot me. "Please... Help- help me... Spare me" For the first time in three years, I found my voice.
