THEODORE. I watched as the frail little girl mumbled some words after that then she passed out, her clothes were covered in dirt and she looked tattered. Too wretched to be Roman Hound's daughter. Judging from how unkempt she looked, she must be a maid which is quite interesting. There were no maids around and my men were able to surround the house. The bastard thought he could get away with trying to double-cross me. What do I do with this tiny girl? I didn't think before putting my glocks in the holster on my belt, I carried her up in my arms and she was as weightless as a feather. My men were in awe as I approached them with a little girl in my arms, "Get the car, let's get out of here before the cops and feds start crawling in" I ordered. "And the bodies of Mr Hound and his wife?" Clark asked. "Burn the bodies and make sure you leave no trace behind" I replied coldly. "No loose ends" He mumbled and bowed before leaving to carry out his task. He knows he is going to die if he fails so he will make sure there are no loose ends. I entered the car with the little girl in my arms and I settled in the back seat, she unconsciously clung to me and I felt a foreign feeling I got rid of since Delila left. "Drive to the hospital" I ordered the driver and he hit the gas driving out of the manor leaving the burning building and dead bodies behind. I looked at the little girl in my arms and sighed, I don't even know why I'm doing this when it isn't going to give me anything in return. Maybe I should pay for her hospital bills and leave her there. We got to the hospital and I got out of the car with her, I entered the building and two nurses rushed to attend to me but I specifically asked for my brother. He came later and the girl was taken from me, "She is in a critical condition, where did you find her?" He asked in a hushed tone. "Hound's mansion, I think she is a maid there or something" I replied with my eyes on the ICU ward. "She has a fractured spine and several injuries. What exactly do they do to the maids there?" He asked adjusting his eyeglasses, as if I would know the answer to that question. "I already destroyed what's left of the house, I need to go now" I replied and turned to leave. "I will keep you posted on her recovery, don't just abandon her like that, I'm sure she would want to know who saves her when she wakes up," He said after me but I ignored him, heading for the front desk I paid all the necessary bills and left the hospital. I couldn't stop thinking about what my brother said on my way home, she might not remember who saved her and it's better that way. I got home and Clark was waiting for me at my office, "I cleared all evidence leading to us, they'll think it was one of his business rivals. I also found out his daughter was missing" He said and I hummed. Half of his money was transferred to a different account two days ago. I also spotted a car driving off in the other direction when we were coming. Could it be that it was his daughter? "Anything else I should know?" I asked and he shook his head. "His daughter? Do you have any pictures of her?" I asked and he was silent. Great. He was smart enough to protect his daughter by erasing every trace of her, I will still find her and make her pay for what he did. "What about the little girl? Are you going to adopt her?" He asked and I furrowed my brows at his question. "No, I didn't want to leave any witnesses behind, that's why I helped out. She had a fractured spine, and was rushed to the operation room" I replied and he sighed. I know what he is thinking, could it be that we were the cause of that back injury? Or is it the complete opposite? If she has to live with a fractured spine then it must have been painful, so why wasn't she taken to the hospital? This brings me to the conclusion that we are responsible for it, "Does the Hound's mansion use staircases or elevators?" I asked, the bastard loved to live lavishly. I wouldn't be surprised if he had both. "They used both, but from what I gathered, he was the only one who used the elevator. His wife and others use the stairs" Clark replied. So they do have stairs. "How long are these staircases?" I brought out the packet of cigarettes from my pocket, he helped me with a zippo and lit the cigarette in between my lips. "It's a spiral staircase, and it's very long. If someone were to fall off then it would certainly cause a fractured spine" He remarked. I didn't think much about it, it might have been my fault, and trying to deflect is an act of weakness. I went to my room to take a cold shower, an uneasy feeling washes over me as I recalled how the little girl pleaded that I help her. Her tone was like a soft whisper and it sounded like a mellifluous tone to my ears, I don't know why I was so fixated on such a frail-looking girl. So I made up my mind to take responsibility for her. **** Three weeks passed and I was in my office working when I received a call from Bryan, he called to update me about the girl's health and improvement but today was different. "She is awake!" He said in an overly excited tone, I raised an eyebrow checking my wristwatch. It was almost 4 pm and I sighed contemplating sending Clark to go check up on her, "Fine, I will be there" I replied and hung up. I guess I have to check on my little dove myself.
