TIFFANY. I think I died and woke up in another dimension or the white ceilings were clouds and--- A bright light caused me to squint as two fingers opened my eyes, my blurry vision was focused on the light before me. "Can you hear me?" A male voice asked and I nodded, then he let go of my eyes. I observed my surroundings and noticed I was wearing a hospital gown. The white ceiling, the antiseptic smell, and the man in a white coat talking to a woman dressed in a white gown with a cap on her head. A hospital? How? "Hello Miss, can you hear me?" He asked again, diverting his attention towards me. I was too shocked to speak. Who brought me here? How did I get here? "Miss?" "Yes, I can hear you" I managed to say. It's no surprise that I could speak when I was in the face of danger, I thought I forgot how to form words but I just needed a push. "I'm Doctor Bryan Silas, you are still recuperating due to the surgery for your fractured spine, can you move a little? Try sitting up right" He said and I was stunned. Surgery? Who paid for the surgery? I felt a slight pain in my back as I sat up, the nurse rushed to assist me but I shook my head indicating she shouldn't bother. "You… You said surgery right?" I was speaking rather slowly but it was a start. "Yes, I'm guessing you didn't know about your fractured spine before? If you had taken long before you were brought here it would have been worse and maybe you wouldn't be able to stand anymore" He replied. It was when Elise pushed me down the stairs and I knew falling down that stairs may have broken something inside my body. "Do you know who paid for my surgery?" I asked and he nodded. "Yes, he is coming to see you after we are done with your examination, you can sit up now which means you've improved. Maybe next we will try getting up to see if you can stand up straight" He replied. They asked me if I was feeling lucid but I was feeling well, after I finished answering all their questions I was told to wait for my savior. I don't know who it was but I'm sure it must have been the police, but the moment a familiar silhouette walked in I had a faint memory of his shadow towering over me. The most painstakingly handsome man I have ever seen walked in, he had light chestnut brown hair and his imposing figure made me shrink back into the bed in fear. Am I dreaming? "I see you are awake, and you remember me?" He asked and I gulped, should I deny knowing him? "Use your words little dove" He ordered and I flinched, chewing on my lower lips, I didn't know what to do. What if he decides to kill me? Of what use will it be to take me to the hospital only for him to finish the job after I regained consciousness? "Yes," I mumbled with my eyes on my hands, unable to look at his eyes. The man had an intimidating cold aura and I felt like breathing alone would irritate him. "A slave never looks at the master in the eyes" Elise's words echoed in my head. I could feel his piercing gaze on me but I refused to look up, he scoffed and the sound of a chair scraping on the ground got closer to me. The smell of expensive masculine cologne clouded my senses, I wished the bed could swallow me right now as he sat close to my bed. Then two fingers lifted my chin and I flinched but surprisingly leaned into his touch, piercing gray orbs met with my gaze. "Look at me while you are talking little girl" He commanded and I swallowed hard before nodding, his cold gaze never left mine. "You must be hungry" He let go of my chin and leaned back into the chair, I didn't dare to move an inch. I don't know what he wants from me but I could try to show my gratitude, "Thank you for saving me. I really appreciate it, I thought I was going to die and I didn't expect you would take me to the hospital" I bowed and he just continued staring into my soul. "What happened to your back?" He asked all of a sudden, ignoring my speech. "I fell down the stairs, I'm a bit clumsy" I gave him an awkward smile hoping it didn't look like I was lying. "So you just happened to slip or step over your toes while standing on the staircase? Is that what you are saying?" He asked, his tone thick with amusement. "Yes," I muttered. Pin drop silence, we just stare at each other. "I want you to know that I'm thankful for your help, I will leave when I have fully recovered" I broke the silence. "And where are you going to go, little dove?" He asked. I was taken aback by his question. I really don't know what I'm going to do but I will try to survive. "Umm, I --" "Do you know you own me? Or are you just going to ignore the fact that I paid three million for your surgery?" He questioned casually, my eyes widened. Oh my goodness! How would I be able to save such a high amount of money? "I can work for you, I can cook, umm I can clean. I can do anything to pay for my debts I don't mind working as a house help-" "You don't have to do that" He disrupted in a calm tone and I was speechless. "Pardon?" "You don't have to pay back, I don't need your money and I certainly do not need a house help. I already have a lot of help," He added. I was so confused, how am I supposed to pay him then? Or is he implying that I become something else to him? I'm only sixteen and he looks older than me, maybe in his mid-twenties or late twenties I can't... "All you have to do is come live with me, I will provide all your necessary needs and make sure you are well taken care of, think of it as a good deed from a good Samaritan" He smirked. I thought about it, what's there to lose? I don't really have a choice, do I? "Okay," I nodded, sealing my fate.
