Joey's eyes were filled with helplessness as the water level on the boat rose higher. "Jump down! Now!" I urged her.
"No... Hans, I can't do this," she replied, fear gripping her voice.
"Joey, we need to jump together! Come on!" I bellowed, pulling her hard as I leaped off the railing.
"No!" Joey screamed, the cold seawater shocking her like a frog tossed into boiling water. Just as she was about to run out of breath, I landed on a large floating object and grabbed her tightly. "Joey, tell me the truth. Do you want to divorce me because you cheated?"
Joey's body was submerged, the rolling waves terrifying her.
"Cough, cough!" She spluttered, her face turning pale as she choked on water. "No, it's not like that! I can explain..."
"Why are you still lying to me? If you don't tell me the truth, I'm letting go. Joey, I know you can't swim." With that, I began to loosen my grip, releasing one finger at a time.
Joey's panic grew as she realized I was about to abandon her.
"Hans, no! I'll tell you! I had an affair with Benjamin, the richest man in Landomia. He promised that if I divorced you, he would marry me right away and give me five million dollars and a villa! I'm sorry, Hans, but I don't wAnna die. Please save me!"
Those words hit me like a shockwave, leaving my mind blank. Just as I suspected, she had cheated on me.
"I'm really an idi*t for trusting you! How could you do this? I've given you everything, and you throw it all away for some lies from a stranger!" Disappointment and anger welled up inside me, and I released her hand.
The next moment, Joey floated helplessly in the sea. Her face turned red as she struggled and reached out desperately.
"It's my fault! Cough, cough, Hans! Help me!" she pleaded.
Her cries pierced my heart. I wanted to let that da*ned woman drown.
'But drowning her means murder, and I will go to jail. It's not worth ruining my life over someone like her,' I thought.
As those thoughts raced through my mind, I hesitated for a moment, then reached out and pulled her onto the floating object.
"Cough cough cough!" Joey sputtered, water spilling from her mouth. If it were any other time, I would have rushed to help her breathe, but not now.
Nearby, the cruise ship was sinking, half-submerged, waves sweeping people away, their fates uncertain.
At that moment, my divorce from Joey seemed unimportant.
Then, a massive wave crashed down, breaking the floating object and separating us. I fought through the water, searching for her. I grabbed her hand, pulling her head above the surface.
I suddenly realized something. Then, I said to her, "Joey, if we survive, I'll divorce you as soon as I can."
Splash!
The sound of the crashing waves grew louder, threatening to burst my eardrums. I held my breath and swam with Joey toward the distant island.
As the island grew closer, exhaustion set in. I lay back, floating on the surface, feeling an overwhelming sense of despair.
'I'm exhausted! Am I really gonna die? This isn't fair!' I complained inwardly.
I struggled to reach the island with all my strength, but in the end, I felt myself being pulled under the merciless waves.
Crash! The sound of waves slamming against rocks jarred me awake.
I opened my eyes to find myself lying on the beach, weak and barely able to sit up.
'I'm not dead? How is that possible?' I asked myself.
The pain in my head and the feeling that my body was falling apart felt all too real. I still felt sick to my stomach.
"Ugh..." I vomited several mouthfuls of seawater, the twisting in my stomach finally easing.
After I finished, I closed my eyes to catch my breath, feeling slightly better.
At that moment, a woman's voice broke through the silence. "The ship exploded, and you didn't die. You're really lucky."
As she approached, I could sense curiosity in her eyes.
This woman was clearly a survivor. She was drenched from head to toe, her thin clothing clinging to her skin, revealing her curvy figure. Her short hair was neatly tucked behind her ears, giving her a youthful and energetic look.
From her confident look, I could tell she was a career-oriented woman, strong and sharp.
"Who are you? Where are we?" I asked her.
She shrugged and said, "My name is Lisa, but I don't know the answer to your second question. All I know is that this is an island. And now you're the only man here! How are we going to survive here?"
'We? The only man?' I stood up, a bit taken aback, and looked around. That was when I noticed several beautiful women on the beach nearby. Like she said, I didn't see any other man.
As they caught my gaze, they looked back at me with caution in their eyes.
"The cruise ship had an accident and crashed into this island. We were lucky to wash ashore thanks to the waves. Those who weren't so fortunate didn't survive, especially since the ship hit a reef and exploded," Lisa said, her voice tinged with helplessness as she walked toward the other women.
I followed Lisa into the group.
There were six women in total, including Lisa, each one strikingly beautiful in her own way.
One was a classic, curvy blonde with big breasts and a fine *ss. Next to her stood an Asian girl; her toned physique suggested she worked out regularly.
Then there was a rebellious-looking black girl with a lip piercing, a tall beauty perfectly made up, and lastly, my ex-wife—Joey.
"The cruise ship exploded! What are we going to do? What will we eat and drink? Can we really expect a rescue team to come for us?" The Asian girl was the first to break down, tears streaming down her cheeks as her body trembled.
When the other women heard her words, panic spread among them.
As the only man present, I felt the weight of responsibility and stepped in to comfort them. "This luxury cruise ship was worth a lot. A single ticket costs 9,000 dollars. A ship of this size going missing won't go unnoticed. Let's hold on for a few days. We can make a big SOS sign on the beach. Trust me, a rescue team will find us soon."
I added, "But it will take time for them to reach us. Instead of worrying, we should look for something to eat until help arrives. Since it's just us here, let me introduce myself! My name is Hans Thompson, and I'm the sales department manager at the Winnie Group."
The tall girl with flawless makeup responded immediately, "I'm Anna Griffin, a t****k streamer."
The panicking Asian girl regained her composure. "I'm Alice Wilson! I own a gym."
Lisa jumped in, "I'm Lisa! I'm a travel blogger who loves adventures and sharing my experiences."
The three girls gave their names and backgrounds, but a curvy white beauty, a black girl and Joey chose to remain silent and didn't introduce themselves.
I decided to ignore them and continued, "We're unfamiliar with this island, but I don't think it's uninhabited. If we explore deeper, we might find local people or fishermen who can help us get back."
"That sounds good; let's explore the island and look for them," Lisa agreed.
Anna nodded. She pointed toward the coconut trees lining the beach. "There are plenty of coconut trees around. If we can't find fishermen or anyone else, they can be our food and water supply."
The others nodded in agreement.
"Besides coconuts, I can also fish, collect shells, and catch crabs nearby," I added, glancing at the sea.
"Hans, that sounds great! If we can't go back and you can guarantee our food and drink, I'd even marry you," Anna said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Her sudden confession of affection left me a bit flustered. 'What just happened? How did I suddenly gain a woman's affection? Is this real?'
While I was still processing this, Joey, who had been hiding behind the others, pointed at me and shouted, "I don't want to team up with you guys; he tried to kill me earlier in the sea!"
