Scarlet The storm had officially interrupted the night. My feet moved before my mind caught up. I pushed through the crowd, heart pounding. By the time I reached the field just outside the protective ring, I could feel it. That hum. That pull of magic, distorted and wrong. Damien was already there, crouched near the sigil, his fingers brushing the carved edge of the symbol like he didn’t dare touch it fully. “This wasn’t here earlier,” he muttered, almost to himself. His father approached with heavy steps. “What do you mean this wasn’t here?” “We ran this trail for the Chase. I passed through this exact area. There was nothing.” Ronan joined them, his voice ice. “This wasn’t placed long ago. It’s fresh. Maybe minutes old.” I stared at the sigil from a distance. My stomach churned.
