"I heard struggling. I swear. There was a fight, detective." Ashley sat in front of Detective Cornell. "Did Amy had any enemies or anyone wh-", Detective Cornell was interrupted. "Hell no", Ashley said, bursting into tears. Detective Cornell sighed. "You may leave", she told Ashley, in a comforting voice. "Jeremey", she called to her partner. "Yes ma'm?" "Give me Ms. Walter's picture", she said. Detective Hank handed her the picture of Ashley. She hung it on her murder board. She pointed to one particular picture. "Him. What is his relationship with Amy Jones?" She asked. "Well," Detective Hank said. "According to Ms. Walter, he visited Amy's home one night before she died. He is also very close with Ms. Harmon." "What is his name?" "Mason. Mason Norman". Mason was pacing back and forth, listening to "Make it bun dem" by Skrillex, on a Bose headset. He had increased the volume to maximum. He always listens to loud music when he is stressed. He had every right to be stressed now. He was so careless that night. He should have known that Amy was talking on the phone. He cursed himself. Anna was right in front of him. She motioned him to put the headset down. "Wh-what now?" Mason stuttered. "The whole world now knows its murder". "Mason. Hey. Don't worry about it okay? Everything's gonna be alright." Anna said. Suddenly the door opened. "Yo Mason. How you holding up?" His friend, Tyler asked. "Excuse me?" Mason asked. Tyler knows? Tyler knows Mason is behind this? "Umm.... you said your mom kicked you out. It would be harsh for you..... so, how are you holding up?" Tyler was confused. Mason sighed, "I'm fine". There was a knock on the front door. Mrs. Norman was expecting Mason, but was disappointed to see two people wearing badges instead. "NYPD", a tall blonde woman said. Mrs. Norman snorted, "I know who you are. Please come in". "My name is Detective Jeremy Hank and that's Detective Hillary Cornell. Is Mason around?" The second man, a black man, asked. "No", Mrs. Norman said. "Do you know where he is?" Detective Cornell asked. Mrs. Norman hesitated for a moment, "I..... have no idea. He keeps secrets from me all the time." The detectives looked puzzled. "Tell me," Detective Cornell said, "when was the last time you saw him?" "Th-three days earlier", Mrs. Norman blurted out. "Can you excuse us for a moment?" Detective Hank asked. Mrs. Norman nodded. The detectives went to a far corner. "We may have found our guy", Detective Hank said, in a hushed whisper. Detective Cornell nodded. "But we can't be so sure. What if Mason was fed up with his mom and left?" Detective Hank thought for a moment. "You may be right. But he would be our primary suspect for now". "So how are you two doing?" Mr. Jackman asked. "We are doing great, thanks", Tyler said. "Yeah. Our history project is going great." Mason said. The three of them were sitting together around the table, playing cards. There was a knock on the door. Mrs. Jackman opened it. "Did I leave my cap here, last weekend," it was Baron Jin Huang. "I don't know. You can come in and look for it", Mrs. Jackman said. So Baron went inside, and stopped when he saw Mason. "What are you doing here?" He asked. Mason saw Anna standing beside Baron, pointing her finger at him. "You know, just chilling", Mason smiled. He had become obsessed with killing people now, although he wanted to quit it. Baron just shrugged and walked away, looking for his cap. He then came back, with a disappointed look. "Did you find it?" Mr. Jackman asked. Baron shook his head. "Don't worry Baron. It'll show up", Mason said. He didn't leave his eyes from Baron until he disappeared from his sight.
