Marie sat across the table of local citizens of Sullivan’s Island at the Carolina Day committee meeting. Myra had asked her to serve with this group three years ago and being back without her was another step of moving forward. She hoped to honor Myra in making this year’s Carolina Day a success.
Gale grudgingly accepted Marie’s invitation to serve on the committee and made her feelings known while staring across the room with a look of exasperation. She placed her smart phone on the table and began perusing her email and said, “How long do these meetings take?”
Marie sighed at Gale without taking her eyes off the head of the committee, Deidra Young, and whispered. “As long as needed, and would you kindly return your phone to your purse and pay attention to Deidra?”
