EIGHT It was great to see the community of Sullivan’s Island come together to celebrate the annual commemoration of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June twenty-eight, seventeen seventy-six. The fight took place at what is now Fort Moultrie and many historians, including Cal, believed it was the first significant American victory over the British during the revolution. Everything was in full swing at the fort, which included musket and artillery demonstrations, period medical programs, portrayal by members of the Second South Carolina regiment of how a Revolutionary War soldier’s life would have been during that time, and then an evening concert given by the Two Hundred Forty Sixth Army Band.
