Ceremony Day

"Are you prepared?" My mother smiled at me, as she fixed a few stray strands of hair. "Yes, more than prepared. I worked my whole life for this moment." "I know you have, darling. I'm so proud of you." "Thank you mom." I could feel tears fighting their way to the surface. "Alright, enough of that. I have something to give you." Leaving me alone, I turned back towards the mirror. I can't believe I'm actually about to become alpha. There were times I didn't think this day would actually arrive. Many of the older members fought against me becoming the alpha of our pack. They claimed I'd run it into the ground because of my emotions. Which made absolutely no sense, all they do is whine and bicker. Eventually, Dad got tired of the constant back and forth. Calling a meeting, he commanded that everyone get used to his daughter becoming their alpha. That was the end of it. At least we thought. Maybe, if he hadn't been so absolute, things would've turned out better. "Mya?" "Oh, sorry, I was daydreaming. What is that?" I pointed towards the blue diamond necklace in her hand. "This." laying it against my chest, she buckled the necklace into place. "Has been passed down for the past 8 generations. From mother to daughter when she becomes Luna. Seeing how my beautiful girl will be an alpha instead, I decided to go ahead and pass it to you now. Keep it safe, and cherish it. Pass it down to your daughter. So, you both will always have a piece of me." Tears formed in her eyes as she spoke. A weird sense of longing appeared in her eyes, before she quickly masked it. "Well, aren't you the most beautiful alpha in the world?" A blush formed at my dad's words. "Thank you dad." "Are you ready to claim your pack alpha Mya?" Anxiety shot through my body at his question. Am I ready to handle a whole pack by myself? I've seen Dad's workload, and it's not for the faint of heart, and he has his Luna to help him. I won't have that. Now, I'm starting to see why they questioned me being the alpha. "My beautiful, capable daughter. Ready to become our pack's alpha?" He said, full of love, but also the usual alpha tone he always carried. "Yes, dad, but I'm nervous. What if I'm not as good as you?" I asked him a little nervously. He casually walked up to me with his big goofy grin. "Mya, there is no way you could mess this up. You're the daughter of two alphas. You are strong. No one can tell you otherwise. If you ever need help, I'll still be here to guide you." With a kiss on the forehead, he wrapped my arm around his and asked. "Ready to show them the new alpha of the Golden Moon Pack?" With a huge gulp of air and a new sense of pride, we walked out of the room.
