*Alpha's Point of View*
I've been sitting at my desk for hours now, gathering everything needed for the pack meeting. People keep knocking on my door. Wondering what's been going on. I couldn't tell them my plans until I had everything lined up perfectly. I plan to execute it as soon as possible.
As I was gathering the remaining papers for the pack meeting, Brax came barging into my office.
"Alpha, Ginny said you were looking for me?"
Of course, it was her doing. She's always sticking Brax's nose where it doesn't belong.
"Brax, I'm fine. You know there's a meeting in ten minutes, I don't know why you couldn't have waited until then to bug me." I exasperated.
"Well, Ginny said you needed help, and I like pissing you off." He laughed before heading to the door.
"Get out. Get the pack ready, I'm on my way."
"Yes, Sir. Oh, your mom needs to talk to you before the meeting." Brax said before rushing out of the room.
I'm surprised she hasn't come to my office herself, now that she's free to complain about everything in person. A disconcerting thought popped up. Where has she been? Dropping everything in my hands, I rushed to my mother's room. Busting into the room without knocking
"Mom, you in here?"
"Oh! Darling, how are you doing?" She smiled a bright smile that barely met her eyes.
"I'm fine mom, there's a pack meeting soon. What can I help you with?" My racing heart calmed; she's not with my mate.
As I stood there waiting for her to answer, I observed her state. I can tell that place is took a toll on her. Her once shiny black straight hair is now extremely knotted with patches of dirt, and I can't imagine what else. Her eyes are dull, unhappy, and almost lifeless. I wish she had listened to me. I just wanted her to give up on trying to stop my plan.
"I know you want Justice for your father. But, please, for your future, and for your mate, don't do this. You'll regret it. I'm begging you to just move on. Don't do this to yourself, or her. Neither of you will be the same. She will hate you! Don't you see that? Don't be like your father. I didn't want you to turn out this way. I failed." she sobbed uncontrollably.
"Mom, I'm sorry. I don't mean to break your heart. You didn't fail me. But I had to get revenge for Dad. He didn't deserve to be murdered. I wish you felt the same." I said softly. We always had two different views on this situation. For some reason, she's always felt he deserved to die that night. But he didn't do anything wrong. I didn't deserve to lose my dad. Let alone be there when it happened. As soon as I said he didn't deserve it, her sobs ceased to exist, as she lifted her head to gaze straight in my eyes, as she said.
"Son, your dad wasn't innocent. He was obsessed with Axel's daughter being your mate. Even if she wasn't, he was going to force the bond between the two of you. He didn't care about anyone's opinion. Not mine, not even yours. If you had decided you didn't want her, he was going to mate you two behind your back. Axel's only goal was protecting his daughter."
I stared at her, stunned. "No, he wouldn't do that! He wasn't that kind of person. Why would he even care about who I mate that much?"
She laughed hysterically, "Son, I know you were young! But I know you remember how he took you all the way to their pack in the middle of the night just to declare her your mate!" She shouted. "You were there for that. Yet you still don't believe he'll stoop that low? Yes, your dad loved you, but he was too consumed by making you powerful. Shes the daughter of two alphas! Of course, he believed her to be the best luna for us. Honestly, what did you expect Axel to do? Your father challenged him. He had no choice but to fight to the death. Your father's downfall was not realizing how far a good father would go to protect his daughter." She spoke, trying to make me see reason.
"It's too late, I already destroyed most of their pack. I need to finish this by finding Alpha Axel and his mate."
"They're still alive, how? I sat down there, forced to hear her cry in grief for their loss, unable to help her. She felt the disconnect."
"I don't know how, but yes, they're still alive." She had a look of disbelief as she stared me down.
"You plan to take them from her again? How cruel a mate can you be? Is it even possible to drop any lower?
"Don't give me that!"
"Why not? Why are you acting like your father is so innocent? You are grown enough to think logically. Instead, you'd rather think with your emotions like a child. You do not deserve the title of alpha. I'm ashamed of you, son. I truly never thought you could make me feel such emotions towards you." Sadness drenched her being until it suddenly vanished. A sense of acceptance took its place.
"Just know if you continue down this path, a path that will only destroy you, and that poor broken girl in that room. I will not be here when you get back. I will tell her your name, help her escape—" Snatching her neck before she could finish her sentence. If you ever dare give her my name without my permission, you'll join Dad faster than you thought possible." Her eyes widen, her own son had just threatened her life for the first time. The smell of fear rolling off her body snapped me out of my anger, dropping her in shock at my actions. Without another word, I left to go to the meeting.
