9. New Knowledge

As I watched him slowly stalk toward me, all I wanted to do at that moment was fight or flight. I knew if I kept doing either of those, I would never escape or save my pack. I hate that they've been locked down there for so long. I hope they're okay. As soon as he got within touching distance of me, he stopped in his tracks. Still staring at me with love, lust, and longing. Seeing someone stare at me with such raw emotions made me yearn for him, and that scared me so much. I shouldn't want someone who's done so much harm to me. But my heart and wolf are calling for him. I can feel the need for my mate grow stronger every second I'm close to him. He reached his hand out to touch my cheek. I immediately wanted to recoil. Instead, I sat firm as his rough hand caressed my face. The sparks followed, his hand the lead. On instinct, I closed my eyes, enjoying a feeling I know won't last forever. Within seconds, the tingles were gone, and I was wrapped in his massive arms. Tingles spread throughout my whole body at lightning speed. It was so fast, I was in shock until my brain could comprehend what just happened. My wolf was at peace, purring with delight that we were wrapped in our mate's arms. With a little hesitation, I wrapped my arms around him. Which shocked him. But soon he relaxed and pulled me tighter. "Does this mean you accept me?.. he whispered against my ear. His hot breath fanned against my skin, increasing my need for more of him. "No." I stated plainly. He stilled in my arms and then pulled me even tighter in his embrace, if that was even possible. If I weren't a werewolf, I'd probably be dead by now! "Why?" his tone sounded so broken. I almost felt bad for trying to earn his trust, to stab him in the back. That feeling didn't last very long. He seemed to have forgotten the unfortunate events that led to our meeting. Ya know, how he killed my parents, most of my pack, and took the rest prisoner? Grudgingly, I buried all the hateful feelings and looked at him with my best love-sick look I could muster. I've never been the best at acting, "How can I accept you when I don't even know anything about my own mate?" I spoke softly while running my fingers along his back. He pulled away from me, still keeping me in his arms as he stared into my eyes. Looking for a lie, or any deception. But, struggled to find any. Seeing how it's technically true. After feeling satisfied, not finding anything displeasing. This giant, beautiful smile graced his face. If I didn't hate him so much, I could stare at that smile all day. He grabbed my hand and showed me to the couch in his room. I took the opportunity to learn some things about him based on his room. He had a King-sized bed, with a black and gold bedset, a large dresser sitting along the wall beside his bed, and two huge glass doors that opened onto a balcony. To the left of the glass doors, he had a couch, a love seat, with an oval table situated in front of a fireplace. There's a door a few feet from the fireplace, and another one on the same wall of the door we walked in, but closer to the bed. I'm guessing ones a bathroom, and ones a closet. There's not much in his room to go by. Except, he's neat and clean, which I liked a lot. When he finally returned, he had some orange juice and fruit. He set them on the table directly in front of me. He then sat beside me, with hopeful eyes. Feelings myself getting nervous. I gave myself a quick pep talk. I mean, all I have to do is get him to trust me, release the rest of my pack, and get him to tell me his name, reject him, then run away. Shouldn't be too hard, right? "What would you like to know, mate?" He asked with anticipation in his voice. "When did you become alpha?" Deciding to start with something basic so he doesn't become suspicious. "As soon as I turned 18." He stated. That seemed a little odd to me, seeing how alphas don't let their kids take over at least until they've completed all their training. Even then, the earliest you can finish training is at the age of twenty. But most are 21. Depending on whether you get sent to train at 17 or 18. Of course, my curiosity got the best of me. " Why did your dad let you take over so soon?" "He didn't. He was murdered when I was twelve. I had no choice but to start my training early. So, I could take over as soon as I was of age." He spoke with a bit of sadness and anger in his voice. I sat there in silence. To go through the loss of a parent, especially at that age. It's very difficult. You would have to have a strong will. I can imagine the pain he went through, thinking we were getting somewhere, I asked him. "How did he die?" As soon as he heard my question. He just stared at me with a look I couldn't decipher. I sat there just waiting for an answer, for anything. But he continued to just stare at me for what felt like forever. All of a sudden, his face hardened. "Enough with the questions. Get cleaned up. Dinner will be ready soon." His clipped voice said as he opened the door, leaving. That reaction took me by complete surprise. He was just happy to answer anything! What happen? Watching him leave with no regard for the prisoner behind him. It extremely pissed me off. "Wait! You can't do that! You can't just shut down and leave just because you don't want to answer a stupid question. I'm guessing that pissed him off, seeing how he instantly stopped, fist balled, and his entire frame stiffened. He slowly turned towards me with a glare set on his face. Oops. "Listen, Mya. You need to hurry; accept that this is your life now. It'll be better for all of us. We need you by your alpha's side as his Luna, where you belong." "YOU ARE NOT MY ALPHA! NOR WILL YOU EVER BE!!" I screamed with rage. "Listen here "mr alpha" your pack, and the rest of the packs may be scared of you. But, I'm not. You will not treat me this way! I'm the alpha of the Golden Moon pack. Treat me as such!" I spoke with full authority. He just started laughing, a full obnoxious laugh. What the hell is so funny? "Babygirl, I killed your pack. How can you be an alpha with no pack?" He said with a smirk. This evil bastard. He finds my pain amusing. "You may have killed most of them, but a few remain! They will be freed, and we will build our pack from the ground up. When that happens, I'll personally come back and kill you." I spoke with finality. He smiled. "I'd like to see you try." I was about to respond with something else to piss him off. The moon goddess brought him a blessing in the form of his stupid Beta Brax. "Killian! I have some news!!" Brax shrieked like a banshee. As soon as his eyes landed on me. He stilled, eyes wide open. More than likely realizing his mistake, hoping his alpha doesn't kill him for it. At that moment, I wanted to laugh and dance in victory. I know his name, and I didn't even have to ask. Things were finally looking up with this small win. "Get out!!" Killian commanded. As soon as Brax rushed out in fear for his life. Killian brought his attention back to me. When we made eye contact, I almost peed my pants. He was so furious that if I weren't his mate, I'd think he was ready to kill me. He stalked toward me, not removing his eyes, like he was a predator ready to attack his prey. Knowing I lucked out on hearing his name. It gave me the boost I needed to finish this. I stood up with a new feeling of determination and glared at him. When he noticed my actions. He abruptly stopped. I could see a hint of fear in his eyes. Good. "I alpha Mya Laine, reject you alpha Kill..." before I could finish this long-awaited sentence, he rushed to me, clamping one hand over my mouth, and the other around my waist, pulling me into his hold. "I won't let you do this. I refuse to let you destroy our bond. You are mine, Mya." The look in his eyes switched from pained to resolute before I lost consciousness.
