16. It's Here

"He's in the dungeon." anger evident in his voice. "Her heat is starting; he couldn't control it. We can't punish him." I wanted to kill him so bad. I've seen what an unmated female's heat does to unmated males; not even an alpha wolf can control it if he's near. That's the only thing keeping him from dying at my hands. "Do you really want me to release him right now?" Brax voiced annoyance at the thought of releasing him already. "Not yet, He can sit in there for a few days for touching my mate. If I see him right now, I'll be liable to kill him. At this point, it's for his safety." "Just let me know when you're ready to release him. I'm fine with leaving him in there for the foreseeable future. That goes for any wolf that touches my Luna in that manner." Brax said more to himself than to me. "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were jealous." Laughing at his dumbfounded expression. "Don't worry, I know it's nothing like that." "Good, my mate is my life. No one else could take her place." Thinking of Ginny warmed my heart; she is my life. "What are you going to do? Her heat could last up to a week. How are you going to keep yourself away from her? Keep unmated wolves away from her?" "Everyone is banned from coming to the packhouse until told otherwise." Walking into my office, sitting down as exhaustion made itself known. "I want her so bad. Her heat isn't helping. I truly don't know if I'm going to last at this rate. Too much has happened, Lykos is constantly trying to take control so he can mark her, now so even more after seeing another man touching her." The memories are forcing their way back into my head, pissing me off all over again. "If I hadn't felt him kissing her, he would've marked her. I could've lost her today. I'm not sure she even realizes he would've marked her in the height of her heat without realizing what he was doing." Lykos growled, trying even harder to force his way out to mark his mate. "I know, that's why I'm so angry at his actions." Brax growled. "But not at your Luna?" His eyes shot to mine. Sadness filled them. "No, we don't have any right to be mad at anything she does right now. She's lashing out in anger, and pain at the loss we've caused her. No matter how much we think we did the right thing. They were still her family. We took them without warning, without reason, in her eyes. I only hope she can accept us one day. I don't know how our pack will fare if she is marked against her will. If our Luna isn't happy, then the rest of us won't be." I know every word he said is true. No matter what happens, no matter how mad she makes me. I have to do my best not to mark her against her will just because I'm angry. That's why I'll make sure to hold her to this challenge. She chose to challenge me; this is her doing. She can't say it was against her will if she loses her own challenge. "She challenged me when I had Layton by his neck." His whole body froze. "What? Please tell me you didn't accept her challenge." "I did." "What?! You agreed to fight your mate to the death?!" His voice rose in disbelief. "No, dumbass. Well, it's that way on her side. She will be trying to kill me. I told her if she loses, then I'm marking her. So she'd better make sure to kill me if she truly wants to go free." He relaxed at my explanation. "When is it?" "As soon as her heat is over." "Good, we'll have our Luna soon. I'm going to go tell my mate. May I take my leave alpha?" "Yes, I need to go talk to my mom about Mya's Heat. See if she can help keep me, and any stray males, away from her room." Brax POV 'Ginny? Where are you?' 'In our room.' 'Stay there, I'm on my way with news.' 'Okay!' "How has your day been, baby?" Wrapping my arms around her perfect little waist. "Good, how about you? What news did you want to tell me?" Her question reignited my excitement. "Oh yeah! Mya challenged Killian. He told her that if she isn't able to kill him, then he'll be marking her after the challenge. We'll have our Luna soon!" Her eyes widened in shock, but she didn't seem as happy as I'd expect her to be. "Are you okay? What's wrong, Ginny?" Her eyes concentrated back onto me. "Oh yes, I'm fine, I just couldn't believe she actually challenged him. It took me a second to wrap my head around that." She giggled, looking away as she explained. "I couldn't believe it either. It seems this is the fastest way to get her into her Luna position, though. So, I'm not completely mad about it. Besides, it's not every day you get to see your future Luna's fighting ability." A giant cheesy grin was plastered on my face. I'm so excited to see them fight, I couldn't contain it. "She's in heat. So it'll be after it goes away." Ginny's body froze when I mentioned the Luna's heat, but she quickly recovered. "Really? That was fast. I'd better go check on her. See if she needs anything." Her movements were a bit stiffer than usual. I could tell something about my news didn't sit right with her, I'm not sure what, though. "Are you okay, Ginny? Did something I say upset you?" I couldn't ignore her change in demeanor. I needed to know if it was something I could fix. "Yes, I promise I'm okay. I'm just worried about Mya. I fear this may be moving too fast for her to bear." Her warm smile graced her face as she kissed me on the lips, calming my concerns. "Alright, hurry and go check on her. I'll let the alpha know. Hurry back, so I can cherish my mate's body all night." Biting her lip, trying to elicit a reaction.
