LILA'S POV THE NEXT MORNING I slowly open my eyes to sunlight streaming through my bedroom window, and I hear the sound of birds chirping outside like they're personally mocking my life choices. For a blissful second, I forget what day it is. Then reality slams into me all at once. I grab my phone from the nightstand, squinting at the screen, and my heart nearly stops. 10:55 AM. "s**t, s**t, s**t!" I throw off the covers, stumbling out of bed so fast I nearly face-plant on the carpet. The car's coming at noon. I have barely an hour to shower, pack, and somehow mentally prepare myself for this hectic morning. No pressure or anything.
