CHAPTER ONE (PART TWO)

1856 Words
“Well, aren’t you just a beautiful little thing,” he said in a sultry tone. I couldn’t help but feel a little offended as he called me little. From what I could see, he looked to be about my age, maybe a little older, but then again he is a Vampire, so I’m sure he’s a lot older. “Excuse me,” I quietly murmured, trying to step forward, hoping he’d move out of my way. He doesn’t budge. He doesn’t even move a muscle. The only thing I could see was a darkened look that looked a little too hungry for my taste. “I said excuse me,” I repeated. This time a lot louder, hoping he’d get the clue and leave me be. He reached over, grabbing a strand of my wavy hair, wrapping it around his finger and watched it bounce as he let it go. “You do look rather tasty. Why don’t we just get to it and have some fun.” He extracted his fangs, giving me a big, unpleasant grin. This guy is a total f*****g creep. A rush of uneasiness was stuck in the pit of my stomach. I’m not normally one to have much fear, but I am in the darkened alley with no one else to be found, completely alone with a Vampire that seems to only have one thing on his mind. A small sense of nausea overcame me. I swallowed hard, trying to figure out a way to get me out of this uncomfortable situation, but there was nothing. The nerves started causing me to tremble, and I couldn’t think straight. “I’d rather f**k anyone else,” I spat. “Now, get lost.” His eyes go even darker. Darker than the night. It was like staring into the dark abyss. I can feel his anger. It’s literally pouring out of his pores. He took one more step towards me, until he was only inches away. He looked down at me, his eyes swirling with an unpleasant emotion, nothing but pure hunger. He takes his index finger and lightly caressed down my cheek, sending a displeasing shiver down my spine. “You’re a feisty one, aren’t you? I like it.” He moved his finger down my arm slowly. I quickly swatted his hand away. Just as I was about to do something to get away, maybe even attack him with whatever strength I had, a deep voice in the distance stopped me. “Leave her alone. Now.” I look beyond the man’s shoulders, noticing a dark figure coming towards us. He stopped as he stood there in just the sliver of moonlight that creeped into the alleyway. The sudden warmth and closeness of the Vampire’s body suddenly moved away, giving me room to breathe. The mysterious man behind him started drawing closer to us, until he was close enough to physically see him. My heart skipped a beat. He was absolutely gorgeous. A very tall, beautiful creature. Dark, jet-black hair that was barely visible in the night. He held those same dark, obsidian eyes and they were looking right at me. My knees grew weak, causing me to stumble back a few steps. I quickly gathered my balance back, flattening my feet back against the damp ground. I looked over at him and noticed his soft looking lips moved upward into a small smirk. He continued walking, until he stopped right next to the Vampire that was bothering me. His eyes looked at him. “What do you think you’re doing?” He asked in a stern voice. “I wasn’t going to hurt her, Wyatt. I swear. I was just messing around.” The low-life Vampire’s tone suddenly dropped lower. He looked almost scared. Wyatt ignored him and looked at me. “And you, little human. You don’t belong here.” Little human? What the hell is it about Vampires calling us, mortals, little. Who does he think he is? He looks exactly my age. “Excuse me? I can be wherever I want. I’m not breaking any rules. He was about to break a rule, not me,” I said, pointing at the creep, knowing he truly couldn’t touch me without my consent. The Blood District and the Mortal Lands have a treaty between one another. As long as we, mortals, provide blood, by donating and such, the vampires in the District can’t technically feed off of us, unless we gave consent. They technically couldn’t kill us either, or else they’d be reprimanded for their crimes. Do all Vampires follow the treaty completely? Hell no. I’m sure there are Vampires out there all the time that feed and kill poor innocent humans, but I know my rights, I know the crimes that would be committed. So I’m not as scared as one would think. Wyatt’s eyes narrowed at me and his eyebrows moved upward, but he didn’t say anything. He looked at me—studied me. Staring like a total creep. I literally felt his eyes caressing me, and a slight sense of anger started to burn inside of me. The way he was looking at me, he wanted me to submit. It’s clear that he’s a dominant type. Maybe it has something to do with him being a vampire and me a puny human, but little does he know, I’m a dominant type too, even if I am mortal. “Are we done here? I was making my way home, until I was so rudely interrupted,” I glanced over at the creep that bothered me in the first place. “You have quite the little mouth for someone so vulnerable,” the creep hissed. I rolled my eyes. He may have scared me at first introduction, but a sense of confidence and bravery filled me since then. “I’m a lot tougher than you think.” I crossed my arms across my body, looking and feeling fed up. It’s already late and I need to be home, like now. My eyes dart straight to Wyatt, as I continued waiting for him to say something—anything, but all he could do was just stare at me with a smart-ass smirk on his face. Wyatt continued staring at me for a few moments longer before finally opening his mouth. “Wes, go. Now.” “But—” Wes tries to argue. “Now,” Wyatt demanded, this time moving his gaze to him. Wes nodded his head, quickly disappearing into the night, leaving us alone. I felt a little uneasy now. Not because I was alone with what seemed to be some sort of higher-ranked Vampire, but because I’m alone with a hot-as-f**k higher ranked Vampire. While also being alone with said Vampire in a dark alley with no one else in sight. I was ready to leave. I wanted to leave, but he was still standing in my way and for some reason, my legs wouldn’t move. “Can I leave now? Or are you just going to hold me hostage?” I asked in a smart-ass tone. Wyatt looked at me once again with the same expression he’s worn since the first time we locked eyes. It’s so irritating. “Why are you doing that?” I asked. “Doing what?” He smiled at me, knowing exactly what he’s doing. “Never mind.” He clearly wasn’t moving and I clearly wasn’t going to stand here any longer, so instead, I’d go and find another way. I turned around, ready to make my way back towards the bar, where I came from. “No thank you?” He asked, causing me to turn back around to face him. I sighed heavily. Saying just two simple words to this guy will be one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. And the fact that he’d been toying with me too, only makes it harder. I stood there, taking a moment. Two simple words were so hard to spit out. It took all of the energy and force I had as I finally said, “thank you.” “For what?” I took a few steps back toward him. Anger behind every step. “Seriously? You’re going to make me say it? You know for what.” Wyatt took a few steps towards me too, until we were only inches apart. My throat went dry, causing me to swallow a few times before even trying to open my mouth. I cleared my throat, deciding to submit to this ridiculous conversation. “Thank you for saving me.” I looked into his eyes. They were so dark and mysterious, but as I looked closer, from the little light I had, I could see a sort of softness swirling deep within that hardness he showed on the outside. Upon instinct, I softened my expression just a little. “That’s better,” he said. He took his index and thumb, lightly grabbing my chin, pulling my face upward toward his. I always knew about how cold Vampires are, but I actually never experienced their cold touch until now. I shivered at the contact from the coldness of his touch. “And you’re welcome.” He put a strand of loose hair behind my ear. “What is your name, Love?” I was caught off guard and I pulled away quickly. What do I tell him? I can’t give him my real name. It’s clear he’s a higher-ranked vampire, so I know he’d know who I was if I were to give him my true name. At least that’s what I assumed. Instead, I said, “names don’t matter.” He smirked. “It’s only fair I know yours since you know mine,” he said cooly. This man, this vampire. There’s something about him. There’s something there, the longer I stared at him, that I find so intriguing. He may be irritating and annoying, but he is also so handsome, so beautiful—so manly. He stood there, waiting for me to answer, waiting for me to give him a name. Everyone only knows me as Genavieve, but I also hated my full name. However, being a Princess, everyone only ever went by it, so giving him a nickname may not give my true identity away. “Gena,” I said quietly, making sure not to say it too loud over the nightly wind. “Gena,” he repeated. His eyes danced like stars in the night. “I’ll see you around, Gena.” He started to walk away and then turned back towards me once more. “And please stay out of trouble. I’d rather not save you again.” He turned and continued walking away. “I didn’t ask for your help. I was fine on my own,” I spat, stopping him in his tracks again. He laughed quietly. “Whatever you say, Love.” And then he was gone in a blink of an eye, leaving me alone once again and I oddly found myself missing his presence.
