Meredith
"Dad! You're joking right? I'm eighteen years old! I'm an adult! I can go see them if I want!"
Dad slammed a soapy cup into the sink and turned around, a low growl emanating from his chest. "I said no. That's final."
I glared at him and crossed my arms over my chest. I was heated beyond anything else. I wanted to scream and stomp around, but that wouldn't really help my case.
"Give me one reason why."
"Because it's dangerous."
"I won't be around them! I'll just be watching!"
"They didn't give two sh*ts that night did they! And how do I know you won't act recklessly today today too?"
My blood boiled and I felt tears sting the corners of my eyes. "Well, come with me then. Please! I need to see them!"
He sighed as he continued to wash dishes aggressively. "I have work, Meredith. I can't just leave at the drop of a hat!"
I plopped down in a chair and wiped at the tears that streamed down my cheeks. "The Alpha will be there. I'll be safe."
"Their wolves will do anything to be with you. They won't care if they have to tear through each other. Do you really want to witness that, Meredith? Do you want to see your mates tear eachother's throats out just because they want you so badly?"
I felt the blood drain from my face as I thought about that. My heart stuttered as I imagined either one of my mates being killed. They both agreed that they would try. They wouldn't kill each other, right?
Fear gripped my heart and now it just cemented my decision on going. If I was there they would want to try harder. They would feel obligated to me to.
I looked up at my dad's wide shoulders and took a deep breath. "You told me once that you tried everything within your power to try to save mom. Do you remember that?"
His shoulders stiffened and he stilled.
"You told me that when she was pregnant with me and Marilyn, that the Healers told her that her condition was going to make it impossible to birth both of us alive and that she should consider aborting one of us. Both of you decided against that. When she was in labor, the Healer told you that there was no possibility of one of us surviving. And what did you do?"
He said nothing, staring out the kitchen window. "You called a witch. You had a witch come into the pack and had her do some magic sh*t to save either me or Marilyn so that you could have both of us. "
"I did what I thought was right and ended up losing not just one of my daughters, but my mate too." His voice was hard as steel as he turned to glare at me.
I lifted my chin and glared back. "Your witchy friend made it so that my sister's wolf attached herself to me. You asked her to save her, and in a way, she did."
"I was wrong. I was selfishly trying to keep all of you!" He whispered.
"I'm trying everything in my power to save my mates. I want both of them. I need both of them. And I need to be there with them for every step of the way. I might fail and get a bad result, but at least I tried, just like you, right?"
He didn't say a word. Instead he threw the dish towel he had into the sink and stalked away angrily. I knew I hurt him by bringing it up, but he had to know that I was going to do everything to save them. If they failed, it wouldn't be because I didn't try

I sat quietly in the room that the Alpha held me in and watched out of the window. A couple of warriors had Connor chained up by the throat, hands and feet in the middle of a field, far away from town. We were still in the pack lands, but I wasn't sure what this place was. All I knew was that it was equiped with some crazy contraptions that looked painful and some very thick windows.
The Alpha stood just outside of the window, his hands clasped behind his back. Today, Alpha Matthew was with him, standing next to him in the same position, watching as they brought Gerald out with some thick chains. Connor transformed, acting on a command given to him by the Alpha and I gasped.
I know I had seen his wolf the night we met, but seeing him now, in the day, he was so much more beautiful. He was jet black, a huge contrast to his pearlescent skin, with a white streak that started on his snout and curled up around his right ear. I smiled at how gorgeous he was.
They chained Gerald the same way about two hundred yards away and then he transformed as well. His wolf was just as beautiful with a silvery, gray fur and a black spot around his right eye. I pressed my glass against the window, feeling just as excited to see them this way as my wolves.
At the same time, a warrior each took the others scent and brought it close to each of the wolves. Opal immediately began growling, his lip curling up , his fangs bared. He snapped at the shirt and I felt my hopes fall.
Harvey sniffed the shirt and growled as well, but sat down, seeming bored. I grinned. That was good, right?
They took another of my shirts out for each of my mates and let them smell them. Harvey whined and took the shirt gently from the warriors, setting it down at his feet and trying to roll in it. I giggled and felt my heart warm at his reaction.
Opal ripped my shirt from the warriors as soon as they neared him and placed it on the ground in front of him, sitting with his paws on it and pressing his snout into the material. Not bad, but he could be a bit nicer. I could see that Connor and his wolf were going to be the ones that were going to be troublesome.
When the warriors brought back the others shirt and set it in front of each wolf with a long pole, Opal tore up Gerald's shirt instantly with a loud growl. Harvey used his snout to push Connor's shirt away from mine and laid his head down, his eyes glued on Opal.
I groaned in frustration at Opal. I needed for him to cooperate. I knocked on the window and Alpha Matthew came up to the window. He nodded at me, asking what I needed and I quickly typed on my phone and asked him if I could step outside.
He chewed on his bottom lip and raised a finger for me to wait. He walked back over to his dad and began talking to him. After a couple of minutes he turned back and shook his head.
I sighed and watched them just laying in wolf form as the Alpha spoke to some of the warriors. Matt began talking and gestured towards the window to me. I hoped he was pleading my case. The Alpha turned to look at me and sighed, pinching his nose in what looked like exasperation.
After a few more minutes a warrior walked in from outside and stood in front of me.
"We are going to let you out, but you must follow every single direction. If you fail to do so, it could hurt you or one of your mates. Are you ready?"
"Yes! What do I get to do?"
"We are taking you to the jealous mate and letting you speak to him. Maybe you can convince him to try a little harder."
I nodded. "Will I get time with the Harvey?"
"After you try to convince the jealous one, yes."
I nodded excitedly and walked out with the warrior in front of me. Another two flanked me one either side and as soon as we stepped into view, both wolves stood up and stared at me.
Cara and Emmy were going nuts in my head wanting to take over and run to their mates. I grit my teeth, fighting them back and tried to calm them down.
If you transform, we will ruin everything. Behave!
Harvey began wiggling excitedly in the most cutest way as we passed him. I grinned at him and he whined and lowered his front legs, moving them in a playful manner. I giggled and then glanced at Opal and he stood stock still keeping his eyes on me as we advanced towards him. I felt nervous as we approached and he began growling. The warriors stopped me, holding their arms out defensively.
I stared at him through their arms and felt my heart drop. Why was he acting like this.
"Opal?" I called out from behind the warriors.
His ears flattened slightly and then he sat down, stopping his growling. His eyes remained on the warriors and I realized it was any male that he was jealous of. Not just Gerald.
"Can you guys move a little? I just want to stand in front of him so that he can see me."
"We don't know why he growled. It will be safer if you just talked from there." I felt annoyed and sighed.
"Opal. You have to behave. Can you behave enough to let me near you?"
He whined again and laid down with his paws in front of him and laid his head on his paws.
"Can I please go to him now?" He won't hurt me."
The warriors all exchanged glances and the one directly in front stood aside. Opal's eyes lit up and I smiled at him.
"Hey." I stepped forward and reached a hand out. He lifted his head and sniffed at my hand then licked it. "Hey," I repeated. "Look at how beautiful you are." I stepped closer and I felt how tense the warriors were behind me.
Opal kept his large yellow eyes on me. I pet him on his snout and slowly inches to him until I was petting his head. He purred in my ear as I wrapped my arms around him.
"That's my good boy." I whispered to him. "Can I ask you a favor?" I asked him, holding his large face in my hands.
He gave a small whine and I grinned. I kissed the tip of his nose and looked at his glorious eyes.
"Do you think that maybe you can try to be nice to Harvey for me?"
A growl rumbled menacingly up his throat and fear spiked down my spine as he bared his fangs.
