The wind was biting and Matt’s behind had gone numb from leaning against the car’s hood, but patience had never been a problem for him. The bar’s lot was thinning out at this time of night. It didn’t surprise him that this Adam guy would be the last one out. Cold was creeping in through the soles of his shoes and seeping up through his feet into his limbs, but that didn’t matter to him either. It was just his luck that Adam was staggering out of the doors alone, with no entourage. Or Adam’s bad luck. He staggered closer to him, all greasy hair and oily skin.
