Chapter 9: Thursday Matt “Do you want to sit with me at lunch today?” Matt closed the passenger side door and looked at his brother. Brian fumbled with the seatbelt’s lock and shoved it down hard. He shook his head and reversed the car steadily out of the driveway. Matt stared out the window in silence. Brian had been even quieter than his usual self all morning. He shut his eyes tightly as the image of Brian on his knees, shocked and humiliated, flitted before him again. For a moment he was the younger Brian, acting tough for all the world to see, exposed to the bone, and he’d wanted nothing more than to wrap him up in his arms and remove him from this reality.
