After hanging up, Elena inhaled deeply, grabbed the paperwork, and put them in her bag. She had to stop making mistakes immediately. She looked around as she exited her office, almost expecting to find Jace observing her. However, the corridor was deserted. With her thoughts racing, she went out into the busy city. She was carrying a physical burden from her dishonesty, but she was unable to admit it. She had to maintain her composure and control. Elena reached the little, poorly lit pub where Liam was standing by. He was standing in a quiet area, his face tense. Her steps were confident and deliberate as she approached. She said, "Liam," as she sank into the chair across from him. "Elena," he said, glancing over her face for any indication of weakness. "Do you have the documents?"
