Avalynn's fatigued footsteps rang through the foyer of the Malvis home as she made her way up the stairs after a long, emotionally exhausting day. Her head was still whirling from her unexpected encounter with Liam Artsor, her intended former fiancé.
As she approached the stairway, a sweet voice flowed through the air, its personal tone taking her off guard.

“You always are, Jace. You're constantly sorry.” Stephanie’s voice resonated at the other end of the telephone. “It's been over a month since we last spoke.”
