EVELYN POV
I walked out of the bathroom as the cool breeze whipped my skin. "I was already coming in there to check up on you, you scared me!" Jenny said as my lips creeped into a smile.
I chuckled softly at Jenny's remark, feeling a sense of warmth wash over me. Her concern for my well-being was endearing, and I appreciated having someone like her in my life.
"I'm sorry, Jenny," I replied, my voice filled with genuine amusement. "I didn't mean to scare you. I just needed a moment to myself, you know?"
Jenny nodded understandingly, her expression softening. "I get it. We all need some alone time every now and then. But still, don't disappear like that again, okay? It worries me."
"I promise, Jenny," I reassured her, sincerity lacing my words. "I won't vanish without a trace again. You can count on me."
A smile spread across her face, reflecting her relief. "Good. I trust you, Evelyn and moreover the ball would be starting in an hour and I want you to look the best!" She said right after.
I felt a flutter of excitement at the mention of the ball. It was an event I had been looking forward to for weeks, and I wanted to make a good impression. Jenny had always been supportive and encouraging, and her words made me feel even more determined to shine.
"Common Jenny, even if I can't see you. I know you would look exceptional and gorgeous tonight!" I responded while I felt her hands on mine.
Jenny's touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of affection for her. Her presence was comforting and reassuring, and I cherished these moments of connection we shared.
"Thank you, Evelyn," Jenny said softly. "But tonight is about you. I want everyone to see how amazing you are, inside and out."
Her words made my heart swell with gratitude. Jenny had always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. She saw something in me that I sometimes struggled to see in myself, and her unwavering support meant the world to me.
"Now, you have to sit down and trust me to make you look beautiful," Jenny said while she made me sit on the chair.
I obediently took a seat, placing my trust in Jenny's skilled hands. I shut my eyes even if it was of no use as she began working her magic, applying makeup and styling my hair with expert precision.
The gentle touch of her fingers on my skin made me feel cared for, and I couldn't help but relax into the moment.
As Jenny worked, we chatted about the upcoming ball later tonight, our hopes and dreams, and everything in between.
Her voice was soothing, and her words wrapped around me like a comforting blanket. I cherished these intimate moments with her, feeling a deep connection that went beyond mere friendship but that of a sister.
Finally, after what felt like both an eternity and a fleeting moment, Jenny declared, "Done!"
I knew I couldn't see but I felt confident at that moment. I couldn't see the final result, but I trusted Jenny's expertise. I could sense her excitement and anticipation in the air.
"You look absolutely stunning, Evelyn," Jenny exclaimed, her voice filled with pride and joy. "The dress compliments you perfectly, and the makeup brings out your natural beauty."
A surge of excitement and confidence coursed through me. Jenny's words meant the world to me, and I knew she would never steer me wrong. With her by my side, I felt like I could conquer anything.
I turned to Jenny with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Jenny. I don't know what I would do without you. You truly have a gift."
Jenny blushed, her eyes shining with pride. "You're the one with the gift, Evelyn. You have a light within you that shines brighter than anyone I know. Now, let's go and make memories tonight."
"One last thing before we leave, let me help you with your shoes." Jenny said.
I nodded, grateful for her continued assistance. Jenny knelt down and delicately fastened the straps of my shoes, ensuring they were secure and comfortable. Her attention to detail was remarkable, and I couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky to have her in my life.
Once my shoes were perfectly in place, Jenny stood up and held my arm. "Shall we, Evelyn?"
With a smile, I looped my arm through hers more tightly, feeling the warmth of her touch and the strength of our connection. "Yes, we shall," I replied, my voice filled with both excitement and anticipation.
As we walked out of the room door, the tiny and excited voice of my younger brother Taylor filled the air.
"Oh my goodness Evelyn, you honestly look like a princess. Don't you agree grandpa?" Taylor said and I could feel his excitement.
Grandpa chuckled warmly. "Indeed, Taylor. Evelyn looks absolutely radiant, just like a princess from a fairytale." He paused for a moment, his eyes glistening with nostalgia. "You remind me so much of your mother, Evelyn. She would be so proud of the young woman you've become."
"Thank you, Grandpa," I said, my voice filled with gratitude. "I wish she could be here with us tonight."
"She is watching over you," grandpa voiced out.
"You might be blind but never let that define you because you are no different from any wolf. Now, go and enjoy the ball. Make the most of this evening and create memories that will last a lifetime."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to my grandpa's words. His unwavering belief in me gave me strength and reminded me that my blindness didn't define who I was. I hugged him tightly,
"Thank you, grandpa," I whispered, my voice choking with emotion. "I will make the most of tonight!"
"Jenny, can you please stick with Evelyn tonight. I don't want her to suffocate having so many suitors!" Taylor said, making eyes widened in surprise.
Jenny laughed and nodded in agreement. "Of course, Taylor. I'll make sure Evelyn has a great time and keeps the suitors at bay. Don't worry, I've got her back."
Taylor grinned mischievously. "Good. I trust you, Jenny. Take care of my sister."
With a playful wink, Jenny replied, "You can count on me, Taylor. Now, let's head to the ball and make this night unforgettable."
Arm in arm, Jenny and I walked towards the ballroom, ready to embrace the magic and beauty of the evening. With Jenny by my side, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
