CHAPTER 1

Rosaline's POV “A bed of roses,” is never what life had ever presented to me. Sometimes I wish I could actually summon the courage to rid myself of this suffering. This toil I had forever experienced since I began this journey called ‘living’ All it takes is one single pill and I am done. Done with this wicked world! Void of pain and emotional distress. “Madam, where should i take you?” the voice of the driver interrupted my thoughts as I jumped back to reality. The horns of the other cars followed suit and then I realize I was in the middle of the road. When did I book a ride? Oh yes, I remember. I am about about take my self out to drink my sorrows away. All day I have walked the streets in search of a job in this God forsaken city and found nothing. Perhaps the solution will be in a bottle of liquor. “Please take me somewhere far away from here, a club most likely.” “But I don't have much with me, can you help me?” I pleaded. I wanted this so bad. “How much do you have with you ma'am?” “$5.” “That can't take you to the club far from here but I will just help you cause you really look like you need a chill,” he commented. As he drove off, I sat at the back and loosed my blouse a bit. The whole car seem heated up all of a sudden. “I miss you Mom and Dad,” I mumbled as I reminisced our moments together. “We are here,” the driver spoke softly after driving for a while. The booming sounds from the clubhouse suddenly gave me this sense of satisfaction. I just need to grab this drink. I sat at the bar section as I vibed slowly to the jazz music playing loudly at the background. “Just give me shots of tequila,” I said to the bartender. I gulped the shots like my life depended on it. I was on the 4th glass cup when I started feeling nauseous. “Urggghh,” I grunt in pain as I tried to find the restroom. I started feeling dizzy and my eyes became swollen all of a sudden. I staggered on my way. Before I knew what was happening, two men approached me from behind, both grasping my arms tightly. “Let me go,” I spoke weakly. My lungs suddenly began to hurt and my legs became weakened like I had paralysis or so. It was at this point I knew something was in that drink. “Take her through the back. I already settled the guards. Story is; she passed out and needs air.,” I heard a thick voice instruct the men who held my hands. Before I blink, I could feel myself lifted off the ground amd placed on one of the men's shoulder. I tried to call for help but it was as if my voice had left my vocal cord. I could hear the background music fade off slowly as he carried me away. Where was he taking me? Who are these people? My heart almost jumped out of my chest oit of fear but there was little I could do. I felt helpless. Where is my brother? I had called him earlier to come pick me up before I even started taking the shots. I knew I was going to get wasted to take myself back home but not like this. Not in the hands of these strange hefty men. Tears rolled down my eyes as I watched them carry outside the club and before I knew what was happening, I felt a blidfold over my eye as they put me into big black van. I wasn't alone in there. The next thing I heard were voices from outside. “Dod you get them all?” “All complete?” The voice added. That was all I heard from outside. The van didn't move. It was like they were waiting for someone or whatever. My hands were tied so tight and the blindfold proved really hard to remove I struggled to use my shoulder as a support to take it off. I could feel other bodies in the van with me but I didn't know who they were. I was still too weak to even make a whisper so I laid still waiting to hear, maybe another voice from outside. “Where the f**k is the driver?” A voice suddenly came aloud in my ears. “Dude said he was going in to grab a drink!” Another voice responded. There qas an awkward silence afterwards and after some minutes, I heard the j8ngling of keys. I presume the driver was now here. “Where the f**k have you been? The man who talked previously shouted. “I only went in to get a drink but ai wa stopped by some weird dude who was looking for his sister, one ofthe girls I suppose,” He said. I got scared. “That has to be me,” I thought. My heart began to race fast. “He is definitely talking about Mark!” I pondered. I heard footsteps and suddenly there was some sort of struggle and right there l, I heard my brother's voice, “Please don't kill me. I only come to pick my sister,” I heard him plead for his life. What do they want from me? Tears rolled down my eyes even with the blindfolds on. I heard brother plead for his life and I couldn't even make a single noise. I struggled to set myself free from the rope I was tied but all to nothing. “Bring that new girl we just brought in,” I heard another man's voice. It was different form the others. He removed the blindfolds from my eyes but everything still seemed blurry at the moment. The only thing I could see was my brother's elephant pendant on his necklace. I remember telling him how awkward it was that he wore the around on his neck. Every other thing around wasn't clear even the faces of my captors. “Is that your brother?” The man asked. “Hmmhmm,” I spoke weakly. The next thing I heard was repeated gunshots. Blood all over my face. “No oooo!”
