It was just another ordinary school day, but my phone buzzed in my pocket during class. I kept my eyes on the teacher, pretending to take notes, but my hand secretly reached into my pocket and pulled out the message. My heart fluttered when I saw who it was—Miles.
*Hey, Taleigha. Just wanted to say I was so proud to see you perform today. You were incredible—literally glowing out there. Sorry I had to sneak out, but I’ll explain after school. Can’t wait to see you. You’re the best. —Miles*
A slow smile spread across my face as I read his message. It was flirtatious, a little apologetic, but full of genuine pride. I could tell he cared. I quickly replied, fingers flying over the screen.
*I know it would have been important. No need to explain. Just hope you’re okay. Meet me at the lockers after school? I’ll walk back to your house to finish studying. Can’t wait to see you. —Taleigha*
A moment later, his reply came through, warm and familiar.
*You’re the best, Tales. See you after school. ❤️*
The bell rang, and the classroom emptied quickly. I gathered my books, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation. Today, I’d performed my heart out, and I was already looking forward to seeing Miles again. I knew he had a reason for leaving early, but I didn’t mind. I just wanted to be near him.
When the final bell sounded, I headed straight for the lockers. There, waiting for me, was Miles. I saw him turn around from where he leaned against the row, his face breaking into that familiar, easy smile. Without a word, he stepped closer, and in one smooth motion, he wrapped his arms around me from behind.
“Come on, Tales,” he whispered softly, resting his chin on top of my head. “We’re ready to hit the books?”
I giggled, leaning into his warm embrace. “Let’s go,” I said softly, feeling a rush of happiness. It was such a simple moment, but I loved it—the closeness, the way he made me feel safe and loved without even trying.
We walked side by side, chatting lightly about the day, the performance, and the upcoming weekend. As we neared his house, I sighed, feeling relieved that school was finally over. I was glad to have him with me. We entered the house together, the familiar smell of home welcoming us.

**Miles’s POV**
I couldn’t help but smile when I saw my mom greet us at the door. She was always so proud of Taleigha—her little star. As we entered, she looked at both of us with that same warm, proud expression.
“I heard your practice was amazing,” my mum said, her eyes shining. “Taleigha, I knew you’d do fantastic. You’re so talented—always believed in you. You make me proud every single day.”
Taleigha blushed, but her smile was bright. “Thanks, ma. I just love what I do. It’s like I’m finally really showing everyone what I can do.”
I watched her, feeling a swell of love. She was so radiant today—confident, joyful. My mom’s praise made her glow even more. It was one of those moments I cherished—seeing her happy and proud.
I left mum and Tales to catch up I ran up stairs grabbed a few clothes and headed for a shower by the time I had finished my shower I went into my room Taleigha was in there dancing and singing she had snuck into some of my clothes—my oversized T-shirts that fit just right on her curvaceous body. Her hair was slightly tousled, her eyes shining with happiness. I couldn’t help but stare, feeling that warmth in my chest. She was so beautiful—more than just her appearance, her essence. Her confidence, her passion, her smile—she was perfect.
Without thinking, I turned up the music and joined her, singing along softly. “You’re the reason I believe in love,” I crooned, matching her energy.
She turned to look at me, giggling. “Your moves are terrible,” she teased, laughing as she tried to mimic my dance steps. we normally have dancing competitions to hip hop she was an excellent dancer she taught me most of my moves and we would practice dance moves all the time together.
I grinned, feeling playful. “Hey, I’m just showing you how a real dancer does it,” I joked, spinning her around gently.
For twenty minutes, we danced and sang together, filling the room with our shared joy. She was so carefree, so alive. Her laughter was like music—warm and inviting. I wanted to pull her close, to kiss her—just hold her and tell her how much she meant to me. That moment—just the two of us, caught in our own world—felt perfect.
She looked up at me, her eyes shining. “You’re pretty good at this,” she said softly.
I took her hand, pulling her close. “Taleigha, you make everything better,” I whispered. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I could see her face soften, her smile melting into something more tender.
Just as I was about to lean in, the harsh buzz of a ringtone broke the spell. I pulled back reluctantly, my phone continued ringing again. I ignored it, as I didn't recognized the number
“You’re amazing,” I said softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “Today’s been perfect.”
She leaned into me briefly, her head resting on my shoulder, and I felt my world quiet down for just a moment. The love I felt was so real, so pure—something I’d never take for granted. I wanted to hold her forever, to protect her, to keep her safe and happy.
But our moment was rudely interrupted by a loud ping from my phone. I sighed, knowing I couldn’t ignore it forever. I picked it up and saw another message—this time from an unknown number.
*Hey Miles, it’s Stacey. Just wanted to remind you about my birthday party this weekend. Hope you’ll consider being my plus one. ;) <3*
I rolled my eyes and left the message on seen. That girl was relentless—thinking I’d ever consider her after everything. She was nasty, manipulative, and had no respect for anyone I cared about.
I looked at Taleigha, still smiling, still dancing. I knew I’d have to deal with her sooner or later, but right now, I just wanted to hold her close. To cherish this moment—our love, our connection—before life threw its usual chaos back at us.
I took her hand gently and looked into her eyes. “Let’s finish studying,” I said softly, leaning in to kiss her forehead. “I’ve got your back—always.”
She squeezed my hand, her smile brighter than ever. “Me too, Miles. Always. Hey what happened at lunch did you sort out what you need to?" I replied "Yeah Issac was getting bullied and I didn't want to ruin your buzz with your performance so I went and dealt with it".
Issac is my little brother she immediately was concerned and made me promise to never with held information cause he's like family to her as well.
