His silence was as heavy as his earlier outburst, and I could only watch him, worry knotting in my chest. Once we were inside the room, he closed the door, pulled me close, and held me tightly against him. I could feel his heartbeat, quick and uneven, almost as if something inside him was fighting to break free.
