The Lunch Break

They headed out the door into a sunny breezy afternoon and walked a couple of blocks down to this small café that sat on the corner cute and cozy Sarah had stopped there on occasion to grab a coffee. They made it to the café and he grabbed the door for her and they found a little corner table next to a window looking out on to the road and the windows were tinted so that people couldn't just stand and stare at you.

Brandon ordered a small steak and Sarah ordered a small salad with a soup for the side and a cup of lemon tea. They continued talking for a little and then she noticed something different about him his eyes were darker then when she seen them inside the office and his stare looked still not taking his eyes off of her and she got a little confused and lost all train of thought and he was speaking in some kind of language that she couldn't understand and what seemed like forever the waiter had brought there food over to them and it snapped her out of the trance and his eyes moved to the waiter talking and she just sat there trying to figure out what had just happened and why she couldn't remember what she was talking about with him.

They sat there in silence for a few eating their food not making eye contact with each other then Brandon asked, how the food was and Sarah said it was delicious thank you and he smiled and said, your welcome. A few minutes later, the waiter brought over the check and Sarah went to reach for money out of her wallet to pay for her half of the check but Brandon stopped her and said, let me get this for you I am the one that invited you out to lunch with me. She politely smiled and said, thank you the next one is on me and they both giggled and they headed back out the door and back to the office when they arrived back Brandon told her to head up and he would join her in a few Madeline will show what is to be expected and how to run the filing system and everything else that she does so you get comfortable with all the programs. She smiled and said, OK and headed to the glass elevator and headed to the 50th floor.

When she arrived on the top floor she headed for the office and entered and was greeted by Madeline and she began to show her what to file and the programs in the computer she said, I have to leave early today I have an appointment and I think you will do okay to take over for me while I am gone I will be here until the end of the week and then this office and everything that comes with it will be yours and I will be free from this place. Sarah looked up at her and said, free from this place what do you mean by that? Madeline just looked at her and smiled and said, it isn't for me to tell you this but just as a warning Mr. Moore is a very strange man I haven't figured him out in all the 4 years I worked as his secretary his behavior is just very strange and he gives me the creeps and he is always doing things in that office at all hours hardly comes out of there.

Madeline continued telling her about his habits and the most random people and meetings that he has with people she never recognized and they all look different to me like dark things inside them I am not one for tall tales and stories but most of them I believe come from all over to attend his meetings I am not sure what they discuss but when they have those meetings he tells me to hold all calls and he does have meetings with the normal people of the board that helps him with decision making and what to do next. But for the most part he is a good boss and good guy just watch out for you and try not to get in to trouble and remember I am only telling you this for your own safety and to be aware of what's going and always be vigilant just as Madeline was finishing up the main office door opened and in stepped Mr. Moore with a smile and asked, how are things going is she showing you what to do? Sarah said, yes sir I think I got the hang of this and with that he headed into his office.

Madeline said, goodbye I will see you tomorrow and headed out the door. After the door had shut Sarah was all alone with her thoughts Mr. Moore hadn't been out of his office the rest of the day and when five o clock rolled around and everything was done she shut the computer off and headed for Mr. Moore's office and knocked and no answer so she opened the door to tell him that she was heading out for the day. She scanned the room and he was no where to be found she stood there for a moment and thought to herself where did he go there are no doors out of this office except for the elevator but that only led to the basement floor so she shook her head to rid the thoughts and shrugged and closed the door and left the building for the day and headed home.
