The walk to breakfast was quiet. Not uncomfortable. Just peaceful. For the first time in what felt like forever, nobody was discussing rogue attacks, pack politics, or evacuation plans. They were simply walking. As they approached the dining hall, Lyra glanced toward Evelyn. "So." Evelyn sighed. Immediately. "I don't like that tone." Lyra ignored her. "When are you going to tell Kael?" Evelyn looked over. "I already did." Both Lyra and Rowan stopped walking. "You what?" Lyra asked. "Yesterday." "And you didn't tell us?" Evelyn blinked. "It didn't seem particularly important." "It was very important." Evelyn looked unconvinced. Rowan laughed quietly. "How'd he take it?" The question softened Evelyn's expression. "He seemed happy for me." Something about that answer
