Valentina's POV
Someone always told me never to take a person's words too personal or literally even. I knew it could mean a lot of things, so I always kept an open mind and it had worked for me, up until this moment.
“You're joking.” I let out slowly, my eyes not leaving the face of the man standing in front of me. He had a lazy smile on his lips, but somehow, I just knew he wasn't joking. “Tell me you're kidding.”
“You want me to lie?” Hiro smirked. “I'm afraid I can't do that.”
“I'm not asking you to lie.” I let out. My voice sounded like a high pitched whine, but the anxiety that swirled at the pit of my stomach made it hard to notice. “I'm just asking you to be serious.”
“I am.” He shrugged, like he'd just said the most normal thing in the world. “Why wouldn't I be?”
