Aurora decided to tell Sebastian over dinner that night. She planned everything carefully—his favorite meal, candles on the terrace, and soft music playing in the background. But as she set the table, she couldn’t shake the nagging worry that his reaction might not be what she hoped for.
When Sebastian finally walked through the door, hours later than promised, his tie was loosened, and exhaustion lined his face. “Sorry I’m late,” he muttered, brushing past her to pour himself a drink.
Aurora forced a smile. “It’s okay. I thought we could have dinner together.”
As they sat down, she tried to keep the conversation light, but Sebastian’s attention was elsewhere. He kept glancing at his phone, his brow furrowed.
Finally, she blurted it out. “I’m pregnant.”
Sebastian froze, his glass halfway to his lips. For a moment, the only sound was the faint crash of waves outside. Then he set the glass down and looked at her, his expression unreadable. “You’re serious?”
Aurora nodded, her heart pounding. “Yes. I found out this morning.”
A slow smile spread across his face, and he reached across the table to take her hand. “Aurora, that’s... amazing.” His voice was warm, but there was something in his eyes—a flicker of hesitation that she couldn’t ignore.
She smiled back, clinging to the moment. But as the weeks went by, that flicker of hesitation began to grow.
