CHAPTER 5

CHAPTER TWENTY.

ALLISON'S POV.

I had to reluctantly meet with Jones because of Aurora's flimsy and stupid bargaining. He was nice and calm to speak with me and despite my efforts at trying to reject him, he was able to prove to me beyond reasonable doubt that he was worth being my business partner. I got to the mansion looking very tired. Aside from the company work that I had to face, my duties as a Luna still called. However, before I could fully enter the mansion, I saw Rebecca standing under the tree and staring at the sky.

I was thinking about not getting close to her but then, it wouldn't look so good. Therefore I diverted my attention to her location.

"Rebecca, are you alright?" I asked her when I got to where she was. She turned around to look at me and then pushed the strands of her hair backward before flashing me a smile. 'Pretence' was what struck my mind thereafter.

"Yes, Luna. I am fine. This night just reminds me of something and I am a bit tired, that was why I decided to come here " She answered.

"How was work today?" She asked me and I sighed loudly.

"Aside from the fact that my sister has been contributing to making things worse for me ever since she joined the company, I guess work was a bit great," I replied and gnashed my teeth at the thoughts of Aurora again.

"That's good to know. It is important to keep the positive feeling skyrocketing all the time."

The two of us laughed and then the laughter died after a while,

"How was work today for you?" I asked back.

"Well, it wasn't that much. The Alpha sought my attention to examine a dead body after the event that took place that night..."

"Huh? Dead body? What happened? How?" I blinked surprisingly.

"The morning after that event, a dead man's body was found in the men's restroom. He was brutally murdered but people still can't decipher how it happened who killed him or what was used to kill him. Even I can't say anything about him. That's not the first time something like this has happened. A werewolf died about a week ago mysteriously in the forest. We are trying to know who is behind these crimes." She stopped when she realized how shocked I was.

"Wait...you didn't know?"

" I WASN'T AWARE! Nobody told me..."

"Not even the Alpha?"

I shook my head.

"Wow, does he really hate you that much to hide such important information from you?" She mumbled and my heart sank. I tried hard to not cry because it hurt to have realized that.

"Do you have all the pieces of evidence with you?"

"Yes, I do."

"Alright then, I will meet you tomorrow, please. You have to fill me in, okay?"

"I am always available, Luna." She responded.

"Goodnight." I greeted.

"Goodnight, Luna."

As I made my way inside, I couldn't stop remembering her words. Did Jason really hate me that much? I wanted to head to my room but turned around and went to his bedroom instead. I was pushed to want to barge in. However, I was able to put myself back on track. I knocked,

"Who is it?"

If I told him I was the one, he might probably not open so I kept mute until he unlocked the door.

"What is it?" He asked with a displeased tone.

"Do you want to have the conversation here in public or your bedroom?" I questioned him back coldly. After a minute of intense staring, he yielded and let me in. His room's lights were dimmed but the lamp on his desk was bright. He had his laptop and a notepad on it too. I was able to see what was on the screen before I faced him.

"What is it? I would advise that you say it quickly and leave my room. I am quite busy as you can see right now." He said and I laughed in disbelief.

"What is wrong with you? What in the world is f*****g wrong with you, Jason? I get that you don't like me because you are in love with my sister but I am a human! A woman! Your Luna! I deserve some respect from you. I expect you to carry me along on the affairs of the kingdom. I am not crying that you love me. I am not requesting your attention. I don't need them! All I need is your cooperation, if you are going to go ahead and disrespect this relationship by having affairs with my sister, I don't mind it but when it comes to our duties, we are supposed to get along. We are supposed to work together. How could you even think about keeping something important as the deaths of our pack members away from me? You didn't see it as something important to inform me? Do...do you hate me that much?" I was trying my best to hold to my anger and tears. All he did there was stand and stare at me expressionlessly.

"Fine, if this is how it's going to be, I will proudly renounce my title as the Luna. It's allowed, right? I promise not to tell them anything that will make them blame you or my sister. Rather than being put in the dark, I would leave. Let's organize the mating ceremony. I will reject you as my mate and trust me, there won't be any heartache for me because we have no bond in the first place. We are doing it tomorrow morning." I spat out even more furiously than before and turned around to leave but he blocked my way with his hands spread wide apart. I looked at him.

"What are you doing? Let go of me." I said after he hugged me by my waist and carried me to his bed, dropping me on it before climbing on top of me. I tried to fight against the position but he was somehow able to overpower me.

"Shush." He placed his finger on my lips,

"Who told you I am going to let you go that easily?" He said as he ran his finger on my lips, playing with them and folding them as he wanted. My wolf recoiled and I knew that his wolf was taking charge and mine was about to yield into.

"This mark..." He moved his finger there, "You can't run away from it. You can't clear it up and I won't allow you to clear it up. I am sorry that I didn't inform you about the recent murders. I have been too busy handling it myself and you seemed to be busy with your work so I didn't want to disturb you. "

"I didn't beg you not to disturb me." I shot back and he nodded.

"Yes, yes and that's why I agree it's my fault. I won't hide such important issues from you again except my relationship with your sister." He replied and I knew he had taken back from his wolf. I looked away disgustingly but he brought my face back to position.

"Now that you're here, can I at least touch you?" He whispered and went to my neck. I inhaled sharply when his breath hit the Luna mark, making my body warm and turning me on slowly. His legs pinned mine just in case I was planning on changing positions or playing funny.
