Chapter 6

Kai’s POV :

“Done. You can join from tomorrow. But are you sure it wont be too exhausting? I heard you play Ice Hockey.”Robert say’s shooting me a look that clearly says that he doubts i can manage time in between college and hockey practice to work.

But he doesn’t know that i have done this before.

Initially i thought i wont do part time jobs anymore more specifically this one job since Grandma and i had already saved up for Maddy’s tuition fees till she entered college.

But situations are different now.

I own Hayden.

And i refuse to own him.

God knows how much he gave to Bern and his men to clear my debt. Or more specially buy me.

My left eye brow twitches as i remember the scene where he looked down at me like i was a pathetic thing he could buy anytime and asked for the price.

Asshole flaunted his rich background in the perfect time but only if i wasn’t injured at that moment i would have thrown the check back at his face and punched him hard.

Who does he think he is to buy me?

No, i have to pay him back as soon as possible.

And for that i need this job and god knows how many more.

“Don’t worry, I can manage.”I say calmly and he still looks doubtfully but nods, clearly not reluctant to let go of a handsome face like me.

Beautiful girls you can find everywhere but handsome guys aren’t that easy to find, specially with a build like mine.

So it’s understandable that they want me to join even if i am a student and might be short on time.

“The rules are the same as before. Henry said you have worked here before so I won’t repeat them.”He say’s and fumbles in his pocket before taking out a thin card and holding it out to me.“ Security Pass Card. Tomorrow, 7 p.m.”

I take the red card showing Velvet Sin written on the side and sigh inwardly, never thought i would be back here again. But it is what it is i guess.

I nod at him and he goes back inside the building through the back door.

“I talked with the manager. You got the job but it’s night shift.”Rebecca say’s coming towards me after finishing her call.

Her short pink hair rests over her shoulder, her hands shoved in an oversized leather jacket that i am so sure is Liam’s and she narrows her eyes slightly in confusion.

“But why are you looking for so many part time jobs suddenly? Everything okay?”She asks a little worried.

I smile and wrap my arm around her shoulder as i walk us out of the empty alley.“Yeah just..own someone a kinda big amount.”

The nose ring moves slightly as she scrunches up her nose, her small figure barely reaching my shoulder.“Those are the worst. I will try to see if there’s more jobs available around the area.”

Among the friends i have, Rebecca is the only one who is from a similar background like me and understands me the most after Liam.

She grew up in an orphanage and bears her own expenses through working constantly.

It’s something I actually admire about her.

“Nah forget it. The job at the cafe you work at is already enough.”I say and she frowns in confusion.“Only one job is enough? Didn’t you say you need as many jobs as possible?”

Well, i said that because I wasn’t sure if Velvet Sin was gonna take me back. Honestly I didn’t expect them to since i left despite their best efforts to keep me there back then.

But i guess my face is indeed valuable for them since they agreed to take me back immediately.

Velvet Sin pays quiet well so i wont need much part time jobs on the side.

“I got another job. It pays quite well.”I say and she looks at me suspiciously.“You aren’t doing anything illegal are ya boy?”

I choke inwardly.

Does selling my body count as illegal? Well, technically i am not selling my body.

“The only illegal thing i am going to do in this life is burying a certain silver haired mutt alive.”I snicker looking away and she snorts .“Good luck for that even though you aren’t gonna be successful in doing that.”

I shoot her a glare and she smirks.“What? I thought you said Winter isn’t so important. So does it matter if she cheated on you with him? She always cheated and you never minded it.”

Winter isn’t important.

But Hayden is.

I hate that bastard.

Winter can go and shag half the population and see if i care but she doesn’t get to shag Hayden.

“I hate Hayden with and without her.”I say and glare at the distance.

“Better get back to practice then. Blackwood took the win in the last match. They were so smug about their win but it almost felt like Hayden was intentionally targeting the player who filled in for you in the last match.”She say’s and i frown at her words.

But before i can say anything my phone starts ringing.

The name Liam flashes on the phone and i sigh.“Time to get back to practice i guess.”

Give me a ride back to campus.”She says .

“Lemme ask your boyfriend first.”I say teasingly and pick up the phone as she stares at me speechless.

I was supposed to be at practice at 3. And it’s already 4:30. Coach must be fuming.

I have no doubt Liam is calling to tell my ear off.

“Becca is asking for a ride back. I am letting you know so you don’t pounce on me like last time when you see us together again.”I say before Liam can speak and the other side is silent for a few seconds before he hangs up abruptly.

Hah, it worked like just i had expected. Got saved from a long lecture.

“I can’t believe it. I just got you a job and you-“She starts and i hold up a hand.“Calm down, princess. He would have snapped at me for being late if I didn’t mention you. And see? It worked like magic, he hung up right away. He probably hates you to guts.”

“Good if he does.”She huffs in anger as rolls her eyes and walks to Liam’s bike that I brought.

I follow behind her but pause beside the bike.

A sudden shiver goes down my spine, a very familiar and strange one as if someone is watching me.

I turn my head and look around but there’s no one . Not a singel soul.

Was it my mistake?
