Deciding to eat at the bar in the kitchen instead of going out to the dining room by myself, I tuck into my simple meal of mac and cheese and little smokies. I had really hoped Aiden would be back by now. I understand that the news I gave him was upsetting, but I’m still a little irked that he left me by myself so soon after I had been kidn*pped in his own backyard. I’m mature enough to know that my line of thinking is extremely selfish; however, I can’t seem to stop that from being the way I feel. Once I finish my meal and clean up the kitchen, I put away a plate for Aiden in the microwave and decide to head back into his office and call the girls.
