His lord and a horn

Laurel let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding in since the lord of Nightfalls started speaking of her daughter it wasn't that she loved her more it was just that she still had a lot to learn and she didn't want her being confused if she fell into a new environment and deep down the parents had always had a softer spot for their third daughter.

"I've already sent my men after her."lord Valot said and laurel paled instantly.

"Stop the carriage."Thrianna said through the open latch when she couldn't hold it in any longer,she opened the door to the carriage and dashed out while Cory followed her,he was one of the strongest and trusted soldiers of the army and she held fond memories of him as she would always follow him around the shed where the horses where kept asking him to teach her how to ride but he would always refuse as she was still too young to handle a horse but then she would stick to him , like literally wrap her hand around his leg making his work harder until one day he finally did.she threw up when she was sure she was out of the sight of other soldiers, she threw up ,she didn't want them seeing her like this,Cory patted her back, he was a man in this late forties with a lovely wife and two kids ,a son and a daughter.

"Are you alright , your highness?"he asked with a gentle voice,his features turning soft and worried at the thought of her being unwell.

"I will be fine."she muttered forcing a smile onto her face when she was done. She looked flushed.

"Let's get you back into the carriage." He said leading her forward getting to the carriage she nodded towards Cory insuring him she could enter the carriage so he went towards and just as she made to go in ,five horses ran past them to settle in front of their carriage obstructing their path.

They hopped off their horse and walked to stand right in front of their carriage while the guards moved forward to stop them from going any further. The man in front looked at the royal crest then he turned to his men and nodded in confirmation to his crew before he began speaking.

"In the name of his majesty, the lord of Nightfalls,we order you to release the princess to us at once."Roman said loudly and before Cory could answer he said again.

"Be sure to give an answer that would favour both our parties,I would like to keep our first encounter bloodless."

But Cory was having none of that, he wouldn't let them take the princess and besides there were seven of them and the other were only five.

"Over our dead bodies."he answered.

"Then so be it." Roman said ready to draw his sword as Cory but then she ran as fast as she could and stood between them.

"Stop!"she screamed with her eyes closed and when she didn't feel anything she opened her eyes.

"I'll go with you."Thrianna said now staring at Roman.

"But your highness,the Queen-"Cory made to say but she cut in

"Don't, Cory ."she said knowing he was trying to dissuade her.

"The queen said you should take me home,not get killed and I wouldn't allow you to fight and get injured because of me." Not that the royal guards weren't strong enough but there was just something about the way the other team looked that told her that the numbers were never their problem and looking at them was enough to tell her that they were strong but she wasn't ready to test that fact.

"It is my duty to protect you and the rest of the royal family ,my princess."Cory said with a bow.

"And for the very first time I plead that you don't, not at the cost of your own life."she said.

"But we swore to protect the royal family with our lives your highness."another guard said.

She smiled knowing that they would not put the topic to an end without proving their point.

"Then I order you to let me go and do not cause a scene in the process." She said turning to look at the other team.

"Where are you taking me to?"

"Back to the ball,milady."he said with a bow.

"See, father and mother would be there so there is nothing to be worried about."she said to Cory as she finally went with the other team. Roman helped her climb onto his horse after he had and they rode as fast as they could back to the Braville castle.

Cory who wasn't quite happy with the current situation followed immediately with his horse while the others and the carriage trailed behind.

Getting back to the castle,Roman lead her into the entrance , through the ballroom and corridors and into another really large room while Cory followed behind them till they got to the drawing room.

"Walking in she was greeted with the sight of her terrified looking sisters,did he really have a hairy appearance and a tail and maybe a horn to go with that,great lords!,he would look terrifying.they day together on a couch holding each other's hands and when they saw her,they both stood in an attempt to walk over to her only to be stopped by a voice.

"Sit ."he said leaving no room for an argument. The journey back had been a cold one she couldn't say how happy she was to be in a room that emitted some kind of warmth but then that voice......,she scanned,then here voice found someone hidden in the darker part of the room but she couldn't see his face,she gaze shifted to the other side of the room to find her parents with sorry faces and the minute Cory came into the room , laurel sent him a really hard glare making him flinch at his spot.

"How rude to leave without a word , princess."he said emerging from the shadows.

"Milord."Roman said with a bow before he left her side to return to his post as his work was already done,and then it struck her,milord? Oh no.
